All locked threads. All due to awful poetry. Take a look.

That poem will be worse soon   :-)

16. I had the same concern as Prisoner_Number_Six

I have seen the effects more than once and it is so frightening. Your reply to Prisoner_Number_Six was a relief.

So much introspection today. Starting with Stephanies coming out. Other stuff. This poem. A very thought-inducing day.

Anyone know what this is about?

Some Progressive talk show host named Stephanie Miller came out as a lesbian, for some reason the DU views it as a cause for celebration.

As usual, poetry stinks IMO, but a total over-reaction by some posters and moderators.

Is there anything that doesn't offend them ?

Yes the poem is gawd-awful but CP did try to capture what she imagines is inside of an angry Alzheimer's patient's mind .

She took some artistic license, and I can't fault CP for that. But I can and will fault her for her total failure of a poem.

I don't think it's so much the poem, I think it's an accumulation of things, they're fighting like crazy over there, the pro-Obama and anti-Obama people, people are being pizza'd like crazy, and some are feeling like they have to suppress their feelings, add to that the mid-terms not looking good for the Democrats.........excuse me a second............. :lmao: .............OK, back to the subject now, and the DU literally looks like it's boiling over.

9. I am not "snarking".  I sincerely think it is insulting to patients of Alzheimer's and their loved ones to play a game of poetic make-believe with the disease.

It strikes me as a jejune attempt to be 'deep' and to get easy praise that is unearned.

42. If it was attempting to express empathy

It failed.

It seemed more like a paint-by-numbers laundry list of fragmented ideas - "this is what I imagine Alzheimer's to be like".

I haven't known anyone close who has had this disease, so I really can only have an opinion about the horrible poetry. I do find it odd that she'd pick that as a topic though, having no personal experience with it. Maybe she should write a poem about writing bad poems. Or write a poem about selfishness. She certainly has knowledge about those things.

So far all the elders on my Fathers side are taking the Alzheimer train out. I get to look forward to it myself if I go the ripe old age route. That being said I expected to open this thread to find some speshul DUmmie lyrics to an old classic song.  :hyper:

A song of Alzheimer's

Would that they forget the words.

Must she always end her poems with one word?

And she has awkward phrasing, even for poetry.

The title is not good, either.

Just trying to be objective here.

I wonder if she will accept constructive criticism and suggestions from her professors.

And by now, she has to know that her poetry is a lightning rod for dissent over there.  To continue posting it makes me wonder what are her true intentions.
very interesting
