There was a time - somewhere around last November I tihink - when SNL was the funniest thing on the planet, and a person named Tina Fey deserved awards and accolades rained down from the heavens upon her - Lets see if its still true.

The President has only had eight months to fix a catastrophe eight years in the making. All of those issues presented as failures are in fact headed towards completion or resolution. We must not get our information or criticism of the President from a show that should have been canceled twenty years ago. Supporting our President means we must be patient.

Because like it or not, this is the growing perception of Obama.

You can bury your head in the sand and make snide comments about the quality of the impression; you can decry what is presented here as "RW smears", but it doesn't matter one iota.

This is the perception most Americans have of Obama, and those Americans are not going to care about the "only 8 months" argument, nor will they give much of a hoot about the nuance of "he's working on it". Obama needs to stop worrying about pissing off the right-wing and push hard to keep the promises he made, or he is going to end up a one-term president.

SNL is a mirror being held up to us...we ignore it at our peril. Remember how effectively SNL torpedoed Palin? That torpedo could just as easily broadside the Democratic party.

Americans like Obama, but they do not see results or a strong push, and both of those perceptions are VERY BAD, and need to be corrected before it is too late.

Zodiak seems to be whistling past the DU graveyard himself, but for other reasons..  :-)

That was the first time I watched SNL in a very long time, and thought that segment was spot-on.  I knew the DUmmies would be pissed, and it made me even happier. :evillaugh:

Really?  For the most part, the economy was doing fine until the DimRats took control of congress in '06. 

I suppose you'd prefer to get your news from Letterman or from the guys on Comedy Central?

Oh but the seed for this economic collapse was planted by Carter, fertilized by Clinton/Reno, tended/cared for by Frank/Dodd and finally set in motion last summer in 2008 to help win the election. The democrats made this mess by requiring banks to loan money to people that couldn't pay them back. It's 100% theirs.

Yes, the impression is horrible mostly since he doesn't even make a remote attempt at imitating Obama's voice.

But for the people claiming this is nonsense and lies and all that.......what in that skit wasn't true? By my count each thing they mentioned that he promised.....he did. And each thing they're saying he hasn't accomplished....he hasn't. What did I miss? I mean is Guantanamo Bay really closed and I didn't realize? Did we leave Iraq when I wasn't looking? Can gays marry or join the military? O.K. yeah, climate change and health care reform are still pending and it's possible we'll get great bills on those (hahaha...sorry I couldn't even type that with a straight face) but really as it sits now......not so much.

I mean I'd really like some glimmer of hope that this was largely parody and not accurate but once I realized the gist of the skit I realized it was sadly and pathetically true.

I didn't think it was funny. They could really be funny if they weren't scared of Barry, but then they agree with his agenda (enacted or not), so they're never going to go after him personally, like they did President Bush. Just like Mack Sennett with the Keystone Kops understood, there's nothing funnier than skewering people's dignity. But they'll never let themselves go enough to do that, because they still worship Barry's every fart.

Part of this was shown on Chris Wallace's program this morning....with little comment, just a chuckle.

Another part was shown on MTP with David Gregory. He said it was all true....Rachel Maddow didn't think it was all that funny.... :evillaugh:

You will remember that a month or two after he was elected he said he paid no attention to the stock market because it didn't mean anything in connection to the real economy.
