Massie is entirely correct. What's government going to do with that data? How will it be exploited? Will the government mandate things like, oh, I dunno...
1. No more than 100 gallons of gas a month? If you exceed that, the car shuts down.
2. Location snooping? If you're in an unauthorized location, the car shuts down.
3. "Safety" inspections at the federal level? If you fail to pony up $150 for your mandatory 6-month safety inspection, the car shuts down.
There is no limit to how much the government can **** with you with this grievous intrusion into this thing we used to hold dear -- privacy and small government.
