They're young, it's spontaneous. It's focused. God bless them.
You said it, Nancy. You dumb bitch.
Occupy Movement's List of Demands:1.
Restore a living wage. Evidently this is best accomplished by imposing tariffs on imports that make American products are competitive. No information about how this will increase wages here or how this country's workers will be able to afford said goods since they'll now be priced beyond what most of us can afford. Nor has there been any thought about what constitutes a living wage and how such a policy would be instituted or how the ensuing chaos would be dealt with.
2.
Single payer. Enough said.
3. (This is one of my favorites & isn't to be confused with #1):
Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment. I'm guessing this is just an expansion of #1 that includes "self employed" pizza & Cheetos testers working from their basements who currently aren't being paid for said work.
4.
Free College Education. No information as to how to fund this but I had no idea one needed a PhD to moan & bitch, protest in streets, wear the same dirty clothes for weeks on end, pretend to be victims on the Internets, etc.
5.
Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand. Because after the failures of Solyndra, Solar Trust, UniSolar, Beacon Power, etc. they learned so much that it will really, really, really work this time.
6.
One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now. No suggestions of how this will be paid for either. Perhaps it will come out of 0bama's stash.
7.
One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants. Since this has been a continuous source of angst since Rachel Carson wrote
Silent Spring nothing needs to be said, except thank God for Earth Day.
8.
Racial and gender equal rights amendment. I don't know why gays aren't important to these people but, frankly, I'm glad these people want to keep me safe from male chauvinist pigs...evidently rape at occupy protests aren't discriminatory. Or maybe being attacked by a filthy hippie is simply another alternative lifestyle.
9.
Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live. I think this one kind of negates #1. That said, those of you living near the borders would have real money making opportunity here. Just go to Mexico or Canada, purchase those items that have become too expensive (thanks to the "living wage") and sell them on the black market. If you fear getting caught, just hire a Mexican (paying them a living wage, of course) to bring said products over the border. They're a protected class and have more rights than you.
10.
Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system. Putting aside for a minute that it was the left who was screaming for electronic voting until it was instituted, I wouldn't have a problem with this as long as showing a photo ID is required as well. If it's good enough for Canada and the majority of the European nation, it's good enough for us.
11.
Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Mortgages, personal loans, credit cards, student loans. However, this idio...uh, progressive doesn't want to just stop at the individual but wants,
"I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period." I'll be calling Citi tomorrow demanding they forgive my mortgage personal line of credit.
12. Demand twelve:
Outlaw all credit reporting agencies. Because every deadbeat should be able to walk into any store and buy anything they want, set up a payment plan and just pay what they want...or not pay. This works for me because one of the items in my bucket list is to own a pair of Jimmy Choo's but they're way out of my budget.
13.
Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union. Well as long as they also have the right to NOT sign and tell the unions to go to hell and never come back if they choose. Oh, and every worker should also have the opportunity to opt out of their union, thus being able to get pay raises and promotions based on how hard they work and how well they do their jobs. Considering most Americans don't want to join a union this would be a great thing.
The end result according to this Occupooper:
"These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy."
This is so ridiculous it's stunning. I don't know that I have words to express the stunning ignorance nor how disjointed this is. There are so many "demands" here it's schizophrenic.
