You know, I wondered why Skins's island was acting so quirky lately, some sort of subterranean discombobulation when I got out the boat and rowed over there.

For any DU'er who is a donating member:
If your computer is running very slowly...
You can turn off the ads!
Simply go to Options, and then click on Edit Your Preferences...
At the bottom of that page, there's the option for turning off the ads!
This should help!

1. Ah, but is that an option for donors only?

3. I'm afraid it is, my dear libbygurl...
There are a number of things that donors get to do ...
Post polls...
Do simple searches, or advanced ones...
I'm not sure what else...
You don't need to donate much...
I'm not sure what the minimum is, any more....
And the star is good for a year...
Well, that explains it.

19. My dear dancingAlone!
Wow, sweetie!
I just had a moment when I realized that more people than my friend wondered about this problem...
This thread is the result of that conversation!
I hadn't realized just how widespread this problem actually is...
Thank you...
You know, I don't want to sound crass or mean or anything, because actually it was a tragedy, but the conversations between the California Peggy primitive and her primitive admirers reminds me very much of a state home for the deaf, that I saw when I was a little lad, vacationing in Michigan.
Semi-dark living room, overstuffed lavender chairs, sheer curtains, antimacassars, doilies, lamp-shades with tassels, a yellowish glow in the late-afternoon room, the scent of lilac all over the place.
And occupying all those chairs in this late-afternoon dusk were all these deaf people, adults, scrutinizing me as if I were a phenomenon of particular interest, and sign-talking (I do not know sign-language).
It gave me nightmares for years, and it didn't help that the older siblings oftentimes reminded me that was my fate.
