I was at Gordon when the Bragg shootings happened. They were stopped by fellow GI's. I still question the "One Shooter" deal. 43 people shot? By one person? On one of the most deployable installations in the country? Home to the 1st Cav division? ...and he wasn't taken out, but by police?

I don't get that.

Soldiers aren't usually armed while on post in CONUS.

Newbeer, you can turn it into a positive by telling them how our Soldiers were attacked today, but they fought back and killed the bad guy. Tell your youngest he doesn't have to worry about his Dad being shot, because our Soldiers are out there all over the country standing between us and those bad guys, and they won't let anyone get past them alive.

Thank you Kay for your kind words and she knows this her daddy was a soldier for the first 3 years of her life. My older one remembers more about his time in the service he was around it for 9 years.

Welp.  All I can hope for is that it takes a good long while for him to get there.  And, sorry, but if everything I have heard about this effing assbag is true, all of the anti-war sentiment, and the supporting of Islam yada yada, well then, IMHO, he should have been released from his duties many years ago. My heart hurts for our troops.  PC has no place in our military.  For the love of God, let these people do their jobs.   JEEZ. Why he was still there is beyond me.

On its face this case has lots in common with the infamous Hasan Akbar case.. the Muslim scumbag who fragged  his brothers in the 101st during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He too claimed he was "harassed" because of his religious beliefs.

I think they ought to allow all Muslims right now a "get out of the military no questions asked" opportunity... Get them out before they do something bad.

Douchebag Muzzie lives.

Oh .... just now read that part. They ought to leave him laying and just let him bleed out with nothing for pain. It's still hard for me to see how he got off 40 plus rounds by himself with just 2 handguns (if that's still the story). Looks like he would have been tackled while reloading. There had to have been more than one shooting I say.

Newbeer ... oops, I see you wrote that your youngest is a she. Sorry about that, I put he.

AP sources: Authorities had concerns about suspect
By LARA JAKES and PAM HESS

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON — The Army psychiatrist suspected of carrying a shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, had come to the attention of authorities six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats, law enforcement officials said Thursday.

The postings appeared to have been made by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who was wounded during the shootings at the Army post that killed 12 soldiers and wounded at least 30 others. A Fort Hood spokesman had earlier said Hasan was killed.

The officials say they are still trying to confirm that Hasan was the author of the Internet postings. They say an official investigation was not opened.

One of the officials said late Thursday that federal search warrants were being drawn up to authorize the seizure of Hasan's computer. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

One of the Web postings that authorities reviewed is a blog that equates suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades.

"To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its (sic) more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause," said the Internet posting. "Scholars have paralled (sic) this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers."

Military officials said Hasan, 39, had worked for six years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, where he had received a poor performance evaluation. He transferred to Fort Hood in July.

The officials, who had access to Hasan's military record, spoke on condition of anonymity because such records are confidential.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, said Hasan was about to deploy overseas, but it was not known whether he was headed to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Retired Army Col. Terry Lee told Fox News that he worked with Hasan, who had hoped Obama would pull troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq. Lee said Hasan got into frequent arguments with others in the military who supported the wars, and had tried hard to prevent his pending deployment.

Hasan was single with no children. He was born in Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001. He did his internship, residency and a fellowship at Walter Reed.

Kay, the news conference I just saw, on Ft. Hood said there was a semi-automatic involved, which probably makes more sense.

Quote from: Description of Lethal Injection proceedure
Long tubes connect the needle through a hole in a cement block wall to several intravenous drips. The first is a harmless saline solution that is started immediately... the inmate is injected with sodium thiopental - an anesthetic, which puts the inmate to sleep. Next flows pavulon or pancuronium bromide, which paralyzes the entire muscle system and stops the inmate's breathing. Finally, the flow of potassium chloride stops the heart. Death results from anesthetic overdose and respiratory and cardiac arrest while the condemned person is unconscious... If a member of the execution team injects the drugs into a muscle instead of a vein, or if the needle becomes clogged, extreme pain can result. Many prisoners have damaged veins resulting from intravenous drug use and it is sometimes difficult to find a usable vein, resulting in long delays while the inmate remains strapped to the gurney.

Let's hope the bastard gets the needle in his ****ing bicep.  :evillaugh:

OK, so he was a quack.  Why do nuts like this even join the military?  They do know what the military does, right?  Why will I not be surprised if we come to learn Hasan was a toofer and kept a journal at DKos?  Why am I confident that if this country were invaded, this murderer would have run to the shoreline to meet them with pen and surrender papers in hand?  That is if he could outrun Dear Leader to the beach first.

Why the hell wasn't an investigation opened?  Some security guard is arrested because someone said they heard him threaten 0Bama, but this guy idolizes suicide bombers and he can't be investigated?

Do they need warrants, don't they have reasonable cause to search everything he owns?

I was originally hoping that it would take him a while to get to the point where he got the injection....and that we used that time productively, but that works too.

The security guard was white, Major Assbag wasn't ergo it would have been a hate crime to investigate him.

It is a natural reaction for men to intervene to protect others. Google Bragg shootings. This sumbitch had help.

I agree with you on the accomplices and to show that kind of devotion when confronted with no alternative. Weren't they saying earlier there were two others?

I've just learned that Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan is still alive and in stable condition. Also, the first responder was a female cop who shot him. She was also shot and is in stable condition.

Did some more reading and digging. For the moment anyway, there is less and less fact finding and rumor killing and more and more narrative creating. I can't find anything new and God help me, I don't want to anymore.

I'm crashing early, God bless all. With Texas in our minds, let's all remember there are military men and women halfway round the world that could face as tough a day tomorrow and beyond. Keep all of them in your hearts near and far.

"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

I have one real life friend stationed at Ft. Bragg HOOD. Thankfully just got an email from him that he's ok. He didn't say much other than he was locked down for 5 1/2 hours.

I guess the bright side is that the sombitch won't be held up as a martyred hero in the muslim world. He failed to complete his mission - no virgins for him.

Bragg is a long f'n way away from Hood, Kay. Last thing we need is other installations overreacting. It happened on September 11th, 2001. ...and I never got on post the next day.
