Pound this into your head: at least for now, any vile kluxer, neo-nazi or garden variety smarmy

psychopath can post on some type of social media not just total falsehoods, but transparently ridiculous accusations of ANYTHING from child sex trafficking to consorting with alien reptiles if there's a chance it may damage a political adversary's reputation.

There are no longer any rules. There are no limits. "Whatever works" determines what is said or done.

Atticus, who is constantly posting the wildest theories and accusation towards politicians he doesn't like on a website that was established on the basis of a lie about President Bush's election, is highly concerned that other nut-jobs are allowed to use the internet.  Skinner tried to create a sub-forum to try to hide his nuttier members from public view, but that really didn't work, because his entire site is overrun by mental midgets and conspiracy theorists.  I'm sure he's very happy that he dumped the entire cesspool in EarlG's  lap and got paid to walk out the door.  It's worth noting that, since he sold out, he has never once returned to even say hello to his DU buddies.  He spent years telling them all how they were such important cogs in the political machine and how effective they were in effecting social change, but as soon as the check cleared he said "See ya, retards" and never looked back.  If they were more self-aware they might feel used and just a little stupid.  But that ain't gonna happen.  So yes, dear Atticus, "There are no limits. "Whatever works" determines what is said or done." is very much true on DU, as long as you keep sending in your money to keep your star.

SSG Snuggle Bunny:
You mean like the Russian collusion hoax, Russian bounties on US troops hoax, pandemic fear mongering etc?

What should be done about those?

USA4ME:
Did this idiot just fall off the turnip truck? Guess he's never heard of Andrew Jackson and all the accusations that were hurled and him and his wife during his political campaigns. These tactics are as old as the world itself. That's why the 1st Amendment is so important, to counteract any falsehoods. And yet from the comments these dimwits want to seemingly form some "truth commission" that, of course, they control. IOW, they're fascists.

.

SVPete:
IRL, "vile kluxers, neo-nazis or garden variety smarmy psychopaths" keep a low profile, as much to themselves as they can choose. They get run off sites like Conservative Cave or The Briefing Room as readily as they would on DU (though some conservatives might briefly use them as "chewtoys", just to have fun and make clear to them how unwelcome "vile kluxers, neo-nazis or garden variety smarmy psychopaths" are - BTDTGTTS, :-) ).

OTOH, while BLM and Critical Race Theory racists are embraced by DU, conservative sites give them the same treatment as "vile kluxers, neo-nazis or garden variety smarmy psychopaths".

You mean Donald Trump, Alex Jones, Sabo, Project Veritas, Milo Yiannopoulos, Mike Lindell can just hop on twitter and say whatever they want?

That last line has been the progressive/moonbat mantra for decades, BTW.  Pure pragmatism, do what thou wilt, and let that be the extent of the law.
