What do you predict will be passed starting in 2011

With the new republican house majority and the rightward shift that it will bring:

What do you predict will be brought to congress?

What do you think will pass?

How do you think it will effect our lives?

We have some great minds here at DU, I'm very interested in your opinions.

Thanks and Happy Holidays, although my heart breaks today about the DREAM-breakers vote this morning.

 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I predict there will be a lot of bitching and moaning and crying.
Come to think of it, that has been DU since 2001. Even after you goons won you whined even louder.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Maybe a ten-year anniversary resolution of DU's bitching and moaning?

Now, that's possible.

It's easy to find a congressman willing to put forth a resolution, in this case congratulating Skins's island on its 10th year since my fellow alum first planted the flag there, claiming it for the primitives.

One wonders, though, who would sponsor it, as Grayson and Feingold are gone.

Maybe Sheila Jackson Lee or Charles Rangel?

I predict the passing of a bunch of brown stuff by the DUmp monkeys.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Has anyone else heard about Schumer saying the rules should be changed and a simple majority would suffice? I don't like that at all.

Now, is that flag near the one Neil Armstrong planted?

Apparently the Dems are going to bring it up in the new year. Then they'll want to change it back when the GOP takes a majority.  There are clips out there of DemonRats saying how important the filibuster is, but they are from the times when they were in the minority.

The thing is, if the Dems take the fillibuster away, then lose the majority, then try to re-establish it, the Republicans will just toss it when they get in, and President Barbour or President Palin will just have to get a simple majority of Senators to agree with their legislation.  The Law Of Unintended Consequences will strike.  Plus, the Republican majority in the House would never pass something that the Dem Senate would try to choke through, if they toss the fillibuster.  Maybe the incoming House Majority Leader needs to make this known to dingy Harry Reid.

The filibuster pertains only to the senate and is part of their rules. The house has no say in it.

I know that.  But, let's face it--if the Dems try to ram something through the Senate which has to come over to the House for approval (I know, unconstitutionally), John Boehner could say, "Not in this Congress."  And the measure would never get to the House floor.

Correct but as far as legislation both houses have to pass something.
Unilaterally it would affect appointment confirmations and treaties, not sure how many other things.
