Is how one below average man could be so obsessed with his own delusions about his intelligence and genius to the point of destroying an entire country?

I know we’ve called DU “Skin’s island” for a while now, and the left in general is truly an island, but I’ve never seen them more isolated than they are right now. They are in the middle of the ocean with a Cat 5+ hurricane approaching, but they think the waters are calm and they can step out of the boat and the water is only ankle deep.
