Food prices and gas are biggies. I live rural so it now costs me $5.00 in gas for one trip to get my mail at the post office, $40 in gas to get groceries. Many rural people have to travel 40 or more miles each way to get groceries and go to jobs. Gas prices are disproportionately hurting rural people. Almost half of Americans do not own stock so they could care less about the stock market. Many Americans do not really pay that much attention to politics so their voting might not be rational, just emotional.

People can cite the employment numbers and various economic statistics all the live long day.

It doesn't matter.

What does matter is how people feel, what their lives are like day to day, what their wallets look like.

Right now, people aren't feeling great. Inflation is taking a bite out of everyone. Gas prices are denting everyone.

People know how much money is in their checking account at the end of the week. If that is significantly or noticeably less, then it's not good for whoever is in office. I know every single time I go to the store and see how much things cost vs. what they did a year ago, a little mental, "The ****?!" pings in my head.

It's largely not personal against President Biden. But it also doesn't matter if he is a good man. Jimmy Carter is an amazing human. Look how that went for him politically.

Whenever people complain about the situations with rising costs at the grocery store, the gas pump, or the rent checks, I always see these kinds of responses. "The economy is booming! Unemployment!"

That's not talking to people - that's talking at them. And people aren't so receptive to that.

Nobody wanted to hear what he had to say.

My perception is a little different. Any time he's challenged he responds as if he's been personally insulted. He doesn't offer a clarification of his position. Biden seems to believe he shouldn't be questioned at all. And another display of seething righteous indignation is all that's required to settle the matter.

All he had to do on January 20th is give a press conference saying he's going on vacation for 4 years, all Trump's policies would continue, and he would have completely redeemed the DemoRat party. We probably couldn't even run anyone in 2024. He would have been a Democrat with Trump's policies and the Democrats would have supported them because there was a f'n D attached.
