Title: I have an honest question

I have an honest question

If the Ukrainian government can democratically permanently ban 11 opposition parties (mostly pro-Russian parties, but also including some leftist and socialist parties) -- https://www.rferl.org/a/ukraine-law-bans-pro-russia-parties-zelenskiy-signs/31849737.html -- why can't we ban just ONE opposition party, a clear and present danger, in this country? The party that obstructs everything progressive, the party that stands for everything evil in this country, the party that can only win elections through cheating and general deceit, the party that has openly stated its raison d'etre is to oppose and block everything legitimate presidents want to do for the greater good of the nation.

Ukraine is a democracy and they did it. Why don't we??

The DUmmie just wants to outright ban the Republican party. :rotf:

To their credit, several DUmmies point out how blatantly unconstitutional that would be but SS doesn't give up.

4. I don't see why we should even permit a traitorous party

A clear and present danger to the nation, an enemy of the state, the privilege of appearing on a ballot at all.

Just ban them, once and for all, and then we wouldn't have to worry about IRV.

8. The first amendment doesn't give a criminal and terrorist organisation

The right to exist. As our president correctly stated, no amendment is absolute.

22. It would be the DEMOCRATIC Party, I would remind. But it need not be a one-party rule

Our natural opposition parties might be the Green Party, the Democratic-Socialist of America, groups like that.

27. The Ukrainian parliament passed a bill last month and President Zelensky signed into law

Our Congress and president do the same.

And for those claiming it would be unconstitutional, our constitution is a living, evolving entity. The fourth amendment has seen new limitations attached to it over the years, for instance. Hell, we send men and women all over the world to fight and die all on a president's order, even though the constitution confers onto the Congress alone the power to declare war.

And I'm pretty sure the Congress passed the Communism Control Act in 1954 and signed by anti-president Dwight Eisenhower, banning the Communist Party in America. So it's not like it's not been done before.

Listen up stupid!!

First off our "president" is a left wing ass hole loser who never did an honest days work in his life.
He is so crooked they will have to screw him into the ground when he dies.

If you don't like it here move to a 1 party state like Cuba, The weather there is fine and rum is cheap.

These are the people that want to disarm me?

He is right - just he wants to ban the wrong party.

Too bad the left has forgotten the Cardinal Rule of Politics: NEVER arrogate unto yourself a rule or law you do not want used against you.  Apparently, they did not learn from Cavanaugh.  If they can outlaw the Republicans just because the Republicans love America and believe in the same laws for everyone then someday the Democrats could be outlawed for any reason at all.

So let the banning begin.  I hope they are ready to backup the attempt.  They will see what an insurrection backed up by hundreds of millions of arms and trillions of bullets looks like.

Uh, because Ukraine is a cesspool of corruption and not a model of governance to which one should aspire. Dumbasses.

Also, what's to stop republicans from forming another party? Actually, that might not be such a bad idea. Burn down the current iteration of the party, and rebuild around people who will go in, kick ass, actively tear up what democrats have done, and throw up obstacles to them doing more damage in the future.

I would say this is funny, but they are seriously trying to get Gretchen Witch-mer re-elected here in Michigan by eliminating the most serious R primary candidates.

Whether any of them admit it or not, this IS what they want--perpetual one-party rule.

The trouble is that the Rs don't fight nearly as dirty as the Ds. I really wanted to know what was in Ketanji Brown Jackson's high school yearbook.

These people must have failed civics so badly that their teachers quit. Oh look, the Constitution has been violated before, that gives us grounds to do it some more!

The Constitution and its amendments are a set of laws, not suggestions. And its authors gave us a mechanism by which it can evolve; it's called "amending the Constitution".

Also, the Communist Party of America exists, despite whatever "ban" this poster is referring to. It took me seconds to Google it.

Tip of the iceberg. We’ve got a front seat to reading a lot of extra special crazy from over there through the end of this year.

Look at a map, dipshit. Go ahead, ban us. See how that turns out. Your party is only strong in the cities and surrounded. We produce your food. So, try it.

I'm sure that the big brains of the democranazi party want to do that. Just got to get rid of those pesky 350 million guns and the gopE sure did them a solid on that.

To save our democracy we must have a dictator and ban all political opposition. That's some mighty fine democracy the democranazis want, mighty fine.

Hey, Hitler only killed 6m. This DUmbass, if he had the power, would want to kill 75m. Stopping us from voting for who we want isn't his "final solution" I would presume.

First and foremost, I had to google that one. I didnt know they were a real group. Of course when they come into power, after swallowing the current Democrat Party, then attempt to overtake the US, cause a war, we will then be told that they were "actually" a right wing fringe group? Just curious.

DUmp lurkers. Do you need a history lesson about banning political parties? It doesnt end well. History has bore that out. There was this fellow in Germany, you should look him up.

I remember a thread over there about a Dem-Soc protest sign saying, "Abolish profits." Someone asked what that meant, and a loooooong thread ensued, with the most committed leftists denying that it meant what it clearly said.

We didn't ban the democrat party after we won the Civil War even though they were a genuine threat to the republic.

Leftists' second language is doublespeak.

Oh, the leftist make me laugh.

When any "XYZ Socialist Party" doesnt fit perfectly in the box that these morons have constructed, then that "XYZ Socialist Party" magically becomes a fringe right wing group. Thats some special thinking, cause I dont know any folks on the right that would want anything to do with Socialism. Maybe thats just me.  :o

Good point.

The Dim'Rats are the only political party to have actually MADE WAR against the United States, and then organized a terrorist front (AKA: The KKK) to continue the "fight" after they LOST the war.

Seems to me a first year law student with a raging hangover could make the case for the Dim'Rats being excluded on SS's "clear and present danger" standard faster than DUmmies could pull enough "facts" out of their collectivist assholes to prosecute the GOP for the inverse.
