Title: Posting Links
Post by: Splashdown on January 04, 2008, 07:31:31 PM
How can I post a link without showing the entire url?

For example, how do I make a hyperlink out of the word "link"?

Standard URL code, but good information to have. I'll use Thor's example at USMILNET.

How to post a small link (http://usmilnet.com/smf/index.php?topic=4235.0)

BTW, I do hate the way I have to modify and will try to find a modification that makes it easier. That I promise.

Just didn't want to take credit for something Thor's already done.  :-)

.....besides, when I buy my own server like we did at ncaabbs, both usmilnet and this site will be hosted on both.

Oh, and don't call me boss. I work for a living.  :p :-)

OK...I just  tried this, and it didn't work for me...the code should look something like this, right?

 (what you want to show up for the link)  (http://http//blahblahblah.com)

Is there supposed to be spaces or no spaces or something??

I admit, I'm not so good at all this stuff!

To demonstrate code on the board, use the
Code: [Select]
  [.code] bbc code here [/.code]  and then insert the code in between. It will show up as text and not translated into BBC. (Remove the periods)

Try this:
[.url=address]title[./url]
remove the . in both locations...this worked for me earlier.
