My care from the VA is excellent.

Appointments when I need them, never more than a few minutes' wait to see the doc, quick referrals to all specialties, timely follow-up messages after visits. And it's all free.

My experience is of course anecdotal. I wonder about the sources (and timing) of these stories in the news. They're anecdotal, too, until there's real data.

Brand new campfire.  No bites so far, but everything is anecdotal, until a (R)eTHUGliKKKan can be blamed.

A few more campers here:

SHINSECKI or whatever his name is is NOT the problem. Rachel just hosted a vet scapegoating

The VA has had a bad reputation for all of my own 50 yrs of when I became a vet. The problems can't be fixed with "high tech" crap. It's the nature of the beast. Yes.  Yes, it is and the beast is? The VA has had a problem and probably will always have a problem. Ohhhh, so no beast here just unfixable problems with government programs, then?

O.K., *fire* the top dude. Let's see where that'll getcha.

7. Agreed. I hate to say it, but as bad as the problems are now, they're nothing compared to

post-Vietnam. I'm not saying the problems now aren't bad and need to be fixed, but the faux outrage by some politicos is disgusting when you know they were voting cuts for Veterans programs for the last 30 years.  :o  Who did that?

When you mentioned your reasons for the VA problems not getting fixed you forgot one, IMHO.
1. the Republicans only care about active duty service members because when they become Veterans a lot of their budget falls under entitlement programs.

VA budget is part of Defense Spending, you doorknoob.  Now, who always wants to cut that, hmmmm?  Not content to end the stupid there:

Quote
Since the GOP has convinced everyone that entitlement means something other than "you are entitled to it because you did something to earn it" they've screwed themselves. If the Vet programs have increased funding, it will increase the entitlement budget. Notice how you don't have the same problem with, say retirement (different part of the budget). The medical care portion isn't under the entitlement budget but many of the work programs and programs for homeless vets are.

One more time....it's all part of the Defense Budget that you want to continuously cut because you, somehow, believe that you can fund Unicorn and Rainbow Single-Payer by.......

cutting the Defense Budget!        eLeBiNty1111!!111!!!!

Bottom line, when you become a vet you stop being a Republican priority and start being a Democrats priority.

I have to congratulate you (D)Ummie whatever.  You are straining for (D)Ummie of the Year.

I was wondering when they'd talk about this.  You go around to different political sites, and they're banging the drum that this could do real damage, finally, to the fraudster in chief.  So, the DUmmies tell each other comforting things to shield themselves from the growing anger of the public, and the sinking feeling that the incompetent one can't actually get anything done.  People are dying.

And he's always got to read about it in the paper.

One DUmmie said yesterday, that Thank God the VA is a government program, where we can have oversight, because you wouldn't have that in a privatized arrangement.   :mental:

He's a prolific reader.....to bad his daddy couldn't read the instructions on a condom wrapper.

O'Bummer will focus on this with laser-like attention and get a hole-in-one.

Unless and until something starts interfering with his golf game and fundraising, "PRESENT" Barry Bigears will be anywhere but DC.

If Obama continues to stick to his decision to never accept blame for anything and not fire some people, this will result in increases of Democrat losses. Unlike all of the other 'gates' out there, this one affects nearly everybody personally - because everybody knows at least one vet.

And as mentioned above, there is only one party that constantly insists on cutting the DOD budget. They even make cute videos involving Oreo cookies about it.  Remember this, DUmmies ?

Here is another question for you -

You morons are busy Blaming Bush(tm) over this, right ? -

Then WHY would Obama's department heads 'cover up the shortfall' with fake waiting lists when they could have come out and demanded more money just like every other Obama-approved entitlement does every year ? Could it be because increasing the DOD's budget is NOT an Obama approved item, and demanding more money would be admitting a mistake ? Could it also be that Obama really doesn't believe in the VA system, and that the one group of people in the United States that DOESN'T require 'single payer' (and that's what the VA healthcare system is..) are vets ?

QED, bitches.

So the actual lists showing the VA has done this and 0bama's faux outrage aren't enough to convince them this is real? And the deal with 0bama is, he's the one who said he was going to fix this, specifically.

In March of 2009 Barry Bigears wanted to make Vets pay for their own healthcare out of pocket. I'm so tired of the lies and lip service Politicians are giving veterans and those serving saying they support us and they want only the best for us. Well,Where in the hell is it? It certainly wasn't there when the Senate voted down the latest VA reform bill. Also I see none of the famous DU "Vets" have posted anything on this over at the playground called DU. I guess they are only :Vets: when some republican screws up and they need to blame Bush for the problem.

Most of them are posers and any that actually served probably spent their time on KP or latrine management.  Like you say, to them veteran is a political title granting victim status.

VA Budget Skyrockets Despite Federal Spending Cuts
 Dayton Daily News | Sep 09, 2013

Quote
DAYTON -- The Department of Veterans Affairs spends more today in inflation adjusted dollars than it did after World War II and the Vietnam War, when millions of troops returned from the battlefield, according to federal budget figures.

By the next fiscal year, the VA budget is projected to rise 58 percent since 2009 to $152.7 billion, more than double the $70.9 billion spent in 2005, agency figures show.

The numbers completely trash their "two Bush wars" meme.
