Did Republicans deliberately crash the US economy?

Traditionally, during economic recessions, Republicans have been supportive of loose monetary policy. Not this time. Rather, Republicans have upbraided Ben Bernanke, head of the Federal Reserve, for even considering policies that focus on growing the economy and creating jobs.

And then, there is the fact that since the original stimulus bill passed in February of 2009, Republicans have made practically no effort to draft comprehensive job creation legislation. Instead, they continue to pursue austerity policies, which reams of historical data suggest harms economic recovery and does little to create jobs. In fact, since taking control of the House of Representatives in 2011, Republicans have proposed hardly a single major jobs bill that didn't revolve, in some way, around their one-stop solution for all the nation's economic problems: more tax cuts.

1. Pretty much on target read

The big question is how Obama convinces the voters that the Reps are at the root of our economic woes. That's a real tough pull.

Recommended good read.

Do you even bother paying attention? 0bama is going around saying how he has saved the economy, how can he then start saying that the bad economy is the repukes fault? On further thought considering how this administration goes back and forth on things and the DUmmies eat it up he probably could get away with it. I swear it seems like when the preezy speaks it's the first time he has said anything and everything before doesn't count.

4. Not by a long-shot. The crash began during the latter days of the Bush

presidency, for one thing. A lot of rich people's investment portfolios took serious hits during the crash. I'm not shedding any tears for them, mind you, but just saying that I doubt the Repigs would deliberately undertake policies so injurious to their natural constituency.

Who had the House and Senate then? It wasn't the waskly wepublicans.

gearing up to run against the 'Do-Nothing Congress' of 2010 (a la Harry S. Truman ca. 1948).

I just don't think the Repigs can 'plan' malaise and reasonably expect their planning to pay off. The global economy does not respond well to such plans other than to illustrate the law of unintended consequences perhaps.

The do nothing Senate run by dingy Harry.

8. They did, and they will attempt to continue

They'd prefer to keep millions of citizens unemployed and suffering if it ensures that the incumbent president loses HIS job.

No, if 0bama's policies were good and we had an actual recovery I would support him.
As it stands now, 0bama needs to lose his job so we can do better.

Did we ever find out if Soros had his hand in the crash of 2008 to get Obama elected?

Specious.  Also, we have never been anywhere closer to this far in debt.

I often wonder who is more responsible for the crash, Chuck U Schumer who precipitated a bank run or Barney I'll be Frank with you tonight guaranteeing there was no problem with Freddie and Fannie.  Maybe Bawney was misinterpreted?  Maybe he meant to say the was no problem with Freddie's Fanny?

It has long been my belief that the democratic crashed the ecconomy either accidentially or on purpose.

And no BG I don't think anyone has been curious enough to investigate what may have been Spooky dude's assistance in roiling the market.

I've always believed that calling them a "Do-Nothing Congress" is the highest compliment you could pay.

Especially when they just don't want to implement anything Obama puts in front of them because, no matter what it is he wants done, it always includes raising taxes on the rich. Maybe there would be a do-something congress if he would submit something that doesn't have that in it.

When are they going to realize that the avg American doesn't really care which side is to blame, they want it fixed. Blame isn't going to fix anything and that is all Obama has done from his very first day in office.

Obama has never heard of the saying "The buck stops here".

Is using buck racist when talking about Obama?

That sentence needs to be incessantly shoved down owebuma's throat.

30 years in the making, Carter got the law passed, Clinton threaten prosection, Fwank and Dodd protected it and when the time was right, Schumer thumped the domino and the depression was started to usher in our great leap forward into socialism. Unfortunately for the democrats some white people can't jump and others flat refuse to take the leap....GOOD!!!!!!!!!
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948
