the coward. this is a weasel phrase, with the implication being that only he can properly "interpret" her true meaning. this is exactly how liberals accused their political opponents of being racists a few years ago. "No, what he said was not a racist remark, but he is using racist code words". WTFF?! it's a smear, it's spineless, and it is designed to be impossible to defend.
and then the senile old bast*rd almost talks himself into trouble when he describes men he has run against, um, and women, too, but, um, not like this one . . . what the hell did that mean?
I am going to have to watch lawrence o’donnell's new show. it may be funnier than that clownish ed guy. I swear, that fruitcake is gonna stroke out on his show one day,and I wanna see it. :-)
Harry Reid says Sharron Angle speaks in code
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who’s fighting for a fifth term, says he’s never before run against an opponent who “speaks in code words.â€
Reid was referring to his Republican opponent, Sharron Angle, whom he accuses of trying to eliminate Social Security, Medicaid, welfare and other government programs. Audio recordings that surfaced this week captured Angle calling government safety-net programs, along with divorce and abortion, symptoms of the nation’s “wicked ways.â€
“You know, your viewers, they know names like Paul Laxalt, Jim Santini, John Ensign — these are just a few of the people I’ve run against. They all were able to speak in non-code words,†Reid said Thursday night on MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.â€
“Here is a person I’m running against, not these men I’ve talked about now — I’ve run against women also before, but nothing like this,†Reid added. “Never have I run against someone that speaks in code words that are not explainable. This is a situation that I have never, never come across.â€

Even in His Hometown, Reid Is Source of Anguish
SEARCHLIGHT, Nev. — This shrinking town in the desert has endured its indignities over the years. It has been referred to as a ghost town, a description that galls the 800 or so people who still call it home. It was once famous for its brothels, a reputation that, though hard to quarrel with, is not exactly something to brag about.
But now it has come to this. Its most famous resident, Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader — whose house is visible from the road, who has a school and a street named after him, who can be spotted eating lunch at the smoky Searchlight Nugget Casino — has become the symbol of a potential Democratic collapse in Washington, as polarizing a figure as exists in American politics. This has put Searchlight, with its Joshua trees, scrub brush, abandoned gold mines, coyotes, rattlesnakes and trailer parks, on the map.
Which is not exactly making its remaining inhabitants happy. People here have long celebrated the splendid isolation of Searchlight, with its views of red mountains and its roads that begin as asphalt and turn to dirt as they disappear out of town and into the wilderness; a place that is 40 miles from the nearest supermarket and always seemed suited to Mr. Reid’s personality.

And neighbor or not — and “bring home the bacon†benefactor or not — Mr. Reid has become as contentious a figure in Searchlight as he is in the rest of the state. The mere mention of his name is apt to set off disagreements among even the best of friends.
“I just think he is a real phony,†John McCoy, 50, said as he and Joan Mesenbrink wandered around to a tiny graveyard carved into rocks on top of a hill, where Mr. Reid’s family is buried and where Mr. Reid intends to be buried.

too many news outlets are writing harry reid's political obituary today. it makes me nervous. we can't get complacent. nevadans need to go to the polls, and retire that doddering old man.
