Enviromentalists 'feel stabbed in the back' over 'dastardly move' by Obama admin.

Advertisements [?]
Via Americablog: The environmentalists now have their own version of the DOMA brief from the Obama administration. Via NYT's Greenwire:

The Obama administration has urged the Supreme Court to toss out an appeals court decision that would allow lawsuits against major emitters for their contributions to global warming, stunning environmentalists who see the case as a powerful prod on climate change.

In the case, AEP v. Connecticut, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with a coalition of states, environmental groups and New York City. The decision, handed down last year, said they could proceed with a lawsuit that seeks to force several of the nation's largest coal-fired utilities to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

Reading the article evoked a lot of memories of June 12, 2009 when we read the Obama administration's despicable DOMA brief. This part sounds really familiar:

Matt Pawa, an attorney representing plaintiffs in the case, said he and his colleagues expected the White House to stay out of the matter. During a meeting with more than 30 administration lawyers at the solicitor general's office on June 24, it seemed they had "a lot of friends in the room," he said.

"We feel stabbed in the back," Pawa said. "This was really a dastardly move by an administration that said it was a friend of the environment. With friends like this, who needs enemies?"

blah blah blah

36. Then, thank you. When environmentalists keep pushing for higher federal gas tax,

which only hurts the poor (and has been proven NOT to be a deterrent to affluent drivers), without thinking of how it will affect the lives of poor folk, and then won't listen to the objections, it says clearly that we are not the recipients of your concern. There are alternatives, but it falls on deaf ears.

That is one example.

There are others.

The point is to Think First how things affect others, rather than only those who are like you. Then to be willing to listen if the proposal is objectionable to vulnerable people.

It is really common decency.

86. How does a gasoline tax hurt poor people?

That doesn't even make sense. The poor people that I know don't buget any money for gasoline.

You'll have to explain to me, like I'm ten years old, exactly how you think that a gasoline tax will affect the homeless, for example.

The way you present this "factoid" about the gasoline tax sounds more like some kind of dogma than the result of some kind of scientific study or even thoughtful reasoning. Where did you hear this?

102. If you're living in your car, the gas tax does indeed hurt you..

There are very few place you can just park a car permanently and live in it, you have to keep moving it or sooner or later someone is going to complain to the cops, at which point your car will be impounded and quite possibly you will go to jail.

Moving the car requires gasoline (unless your car is a diesel).

See, there is a connection..

56. I honestly think you're fighting the wrong people here.

Edited on Thu Aug-26-10 10:04 PM by Selatius
In a thread specifically calling out Obama, don't you think Obama is the worse of the two at the current time? For instance, they keep saying the seafood here is safe to eat now since they opened it up again for fishing, but who honestly buys that horseshit? Because it seems that's what the EPA is trying to feed all of us here.

Yet you plug environmentalists as if all of them are limousine liberals who are out of touch with reality in polluted working class neighborhoods with not a possibility that some of those environmentalists were of the poor like many others. You honestly shouldn't be tossing stones if you live in a glass house.

bobbo has GOT to be a mole and the best one on the internets.

DUposter; My dog died today ...

bobbo;  Well, if you were forced to live in a CAR that wouldn't be a problem now would it.  That's the problem with people who have dogs ... they have NO sympathy for those of us who don't even have HOMES!!!!!11!  You should spend your money on the homeless rather than buying dogs and all the costs associated with them.  That's what's wrong with this country

Seriously, she can turn absolutely any post into a highjacked thread about homelessness and not be deleted from the island.

Here's to the man behind the woman behind the mole ...

You will quickly learn that Bobo-The-Hobo's Raison d'être is to complain about homelessness. In nearly every thread. It doesn't matter what the thread is about, it will be all about her living in her car when she is finished.

79. Bobbolink asked me for help with some homeless-related project or other some time ago

and I was going to give him/her help with it until I realized that this person as a really bad attitude. Bobbolink shows up on thread after thread after thread (go ahead and search the username; this is his/her M.O.), twists the topic toward homelessness regardless of whether or not it has anything at all to do with the subject being discussed (such as, say, the environment), and then proceeds to bash anyone and everyone who doesn't agree with his/her interpretation of that topic as it relates to homelessness.

I think there's a word for that.

I refuse to help someone with that sort of attitude. You're on your own as far as I'm concerned, Bobbo, and you only have yourself to blame.

Little hitler won that war.  She couldn't take it, so she just walked away and left all her stuff there.  That's how she became homeless.  Or maybe she drove away and now she lives in her car, not sure

I have the feeling that bobo really is one of skins moles and he uses her to poke the spawn that he has such contempt for.

They fellate him at every word because he has brought a meaning to their pathetic and useless existences never realizing that he despises them for what they are.

The money they just donated he probably wipes his ass with and flushes away with a scornful grin on his face.

You know, I would think that being homeless would probably humble most people. Bobo seems to be a first class bitch. It is really hard to want to help someone when they are always hurling insults and "me me me" at you. Maybe if she looked in the mirror (oops, guess she doesn't have one), she'd see that an attitude adjustment would do wonders for her position. There are people out there who are homeless, poor, whatever, that would do anything to get on their feet and be grateful for the chance. Bobo likes being this way because it gives her the attention she wants and she can be the bitch she wants to be.

It is sad really. It is sad that she is the DU face of a homeless person. No one deserves to be homeless but DAMN show some humility for once. IT ain't always about YOU.

I can't remember the exact thread, but someone posted about going down to the Gulf region to help one of the animal rescue agencies after Katrina.  Bobo popped up with her standard screed, accusing DUmors of wanting to help animals more than the poor people, like her.  She's still waiting for that fully furnished mansion where she can reside far away from any other person.

The only way that said DUmor could have pulled that off would be by out-donating both the Pittstain and his maternal ancestress.  So, Bobbo's not homeless.  Probably pent up in a mansion for 30 years, though, with nothing but Barbie dolls for companionship.

SSI/SSDI ..'reforms' vs reality

History of SSDI,and those eligibility Reviews *** my emphasis.

A number of changes were put forward. ***State DDS offices were told to keep a record of specific individuals who might "recover" and thus no longer be eligible. The ongoing journals kept on certain individuals are known as "continuing disability investigations" -- CDIs.*** Before 1980 it was assumed that evidence of "recovery" would be difficult for the DDS examiner to obtain, ***but now it was suggested that the individual receiving the benefits have the burden of proof*** in these cases.
Since ***many of the people undergoing continuing disability investigations were not capable of managing their own affairs, and since many people -- disabled and not -- do not understand the bureaucratic process, a number of people would be removed through this process, which would have the effect of cutting the cost of the program.*** (DISGUSTING)

In January, 1983, Reagan signed the new law, professing all the while that he had always been fully supportive of "truly deserving" disabled people. (there's that social darwinist who's DESERVING crap again.)

Just head to South America where these toons went down and made a big stink. I know of one for a fact that was employing close to 40% of the town and cleaning up their own mess. The Enviro Wackos showed up and shut down their operation. The people were frikkin' beggin' for these asshats to leave them alone!

The local population understood without the Corporation they would slide back into poverty. Didn't matter. The Enviro's didn't listen and ended up shutting down the operation before they had it cleaned up.

Guess what? Unemployment is close to 40% and they had to close the only school as it was subsidized by the Company! They now are left to cleaning up the mess because the idiot Enviro's ran the company out of town. They now have no school for their youngin's to get an education, thus enslaving them to the same old BS poverty that has plagued the town for close to a century!!

If you ask the native population, they would gladly have the company back! Hazardous chemicals and all! They say the company hired them to help with cleanup which was controlled for the health of the people. Now, they just live with the frikkin' poison and the gubmint says they can't afford to help!
