It more and more looks like the women who have brought allegations of sexual abuse and assault
forward on Kavanaugh are going to have to file criminal information in Maryland. It seems clear that the republicans will refuse to take appropriate steps in the case of Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
What the republicans could possibly be thinking in how they are going about this is amazing. They are at best poo pooing the victims and at worst are saying it is the victims fault. Considering the alternatives for the victims you would think that the Judiciary Committee would get on the right side of this before it becomes a true nightmare. These women can and should make criminal filings.
If the judiciary committee approves Kavanaugh and the senate affirms,all hell will break loose when criminal charges are brought and Kavanaugh is arrested and formally charged. A Supreme Court Justice will be sitting in State Court being tried on felony sexual assault charges. Is this what the Republican Party wants? This will, along with trumpism, be the symbolic legacy of the republicans.
They know what is coming, they know how to deal with it. If they put Kavanagh on the Supreme Court he will at the very least be impeached, probably while he is sitting in a state prison cell. Maybe he and Cosby can share toothbrushes.
Meanwhile the democrats having reclaimed the house and senate will now be able to dictate who the next justice will be, maybe we can rerun Garland.

Common sense has left the building the democrats are holed up within. If their actions were not so absurd and insane I would
offer a sane comment they could latch upon and maybe self-rescue from obscurity.
For now they can intercourse themselves.

Ummmmmmmm, except under very specific, uncommon, circumstances, a rape or sexual assault investigation is the jurisdiction of the local PD or SD. Not the FBI. So if Ford really wants a criminal investigation, that is where she should make her report. The other accuser was a fake-news-figment of a lying "reporter". Given Ford's attempt to snipe from anonymity, not giving an actual date, and not giving an actual location, I doubt she'll be filing that report, because she would be violating the law against filing a false report.

Just as false accusations of racism provide smokescreen for real racists, these false accusations will create similar smokescreens for sexual assailants who do not leave DNA evidence. And males in management and supervision will be thinking twice and more about ways to avoid working with along a woman without other witnesses present.
