I proposed a new evening  news/talk show to the general manager last week. If he says 'yes', I'd be on two hours a night, M-F, right after Mark Levin.

The presentation went well. Lonnie liked the segments: Liberal Lunacy, Gun Talk, Stupid Criminal Tricks, Bourbon & Cigars (manly good stuff, like bacon, weekend motorcycle trips, yoga pants, local festivals and live music events), and a manly, humorous call-in advice segment. Each week would end with 'The Last Word', an opinion segment on a major story of the week. All from my take-no-prisoners libertarian perspective, and wicked sense of humor.

Besides the morons that attempt to rob a convenience store and get shot by the store clerk, expiring out in the parking lot, what kinda stuff do you have in mind for the "Stupid Criminal Tricks" segment?

I like the Gun Talk idea. I'd probably call in to talk about the sear issue I had with my two RIA 1911s. Definitely was a problem with those two guns. My gunsmith was finally able to get the sears reworked so they actually held the hammer back when the palm safety wasn't being actuated.  :therock:

That kind of story, plus stories like the guy who wrote the robbery note on his own deposit slip, or the guy who blinded himself by pulling on the ski mask crooked.

Sure, plus new guns, Second Amendment, and stories of armed self defense.

Shouldn't the best friends of Big Dog get his super secret phone number so we don't have to dial repeatedly for hours into a busy tone ?

One step closer: I met with the General Manager again today. He's excited about the idea. He asked me to find 4 sponsors whose businesses I believe in, for the 4 half hours of the program. We discussed a 2 year contract, and we also talked about my receiving a percentage of any ad revenue above the break-even point.

We are going to set up an after-hours open house at the station, to introduce the program and give potential advertisers a chance to ask questions.

 :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Now, I need some good ideas:

1. One of my segments will be talk about firearms, 2nd Amendment, and stories of armed self-defense. I need a name for the segment, because my first choice, "Gun Talk", is already taken.

2. I need a good name for another segment, manly personal advice (think Dear Abby, but with my attitude and sense of humor).

How about "True Grit" for your manly talk segment? That's if there are no copyright issues with that title. Or just simply "Man Talk"? Another possible - "Factor T (for Testosterone)".

The gun segment could be "Trigger Talk", "Brass Back Atcha", "Guns 'n Ammo" or "Defend Yourself".

Those are all good ideas, fellas.

I got my first two sponsors: Gypsum Valley Outdoor Sports, a nice family-owned gun store (gvsports.com), and Salina PowerSports, our ATV and Green Mountain Grill dealership (powersportsofkansas.com). Both are excited to be sponsors, and I'm excited to have their support!

Great news about the sponsors! Would they sponsor more than one show?

No idea what you could call the segment this has got to be the intro theme:

Firing Line as I recall was a TV debate show moderated by WFB(William F. Buckley).

He just needs to add ...with Big Dog to the end of it like they did with Red Eye...with Greg Gutfeld on FoxNews.
