I was raised by a superficial family and in my heart I knew it was wrong. I was told at 16 that no one wanted me becuse I was ugly and that I might was well just finish high school and be prepared to take care of my family (which was their real goal in the first place). I now have a wonderful husband who loves, respecs, and likes me (in spite of my shallow family) and I have a double major BA degree (finance and linerar mathematics), an MBA (finance and econometrics emphasis), and a PhD in mathematics (lambda principle). Oh yea, NOW my family is 'proud of me'.

I love my family and forgive them (especially my Grandmother, the root of it all) but I don't necessarily like them.

5. IMO

a certain percentage of DU is depressed and has other mental issues.

You know, she could've shown some sensitivity and posted a photograph of herself from the neck up, thus keeping out those gross deformities.

I think she wanted to shock, and in some, ahem, cases, titillate, nothing more than that.

It's the same bad taste as if I were to post a photograph of myself showing that I was born sans ears; it's not anything I'm ashamed of or embarrassed about, but it can be shocking, and so best to disguise it.

But if you look at the online guests viewing this forum, just like it was on CU years ago, they number 20, 30 at any given time, at all hours of the night.  BainsBane is obviously one of the biggest fans of this forum.

So tell me, lurking DUers, "Quis nocentior"....?    The watchers, or those who are "obsessed" with watching the watchers?
