I hope he doesn't get WallDouged.  What are his positions on FAUX News and remote controls?

I don't remember a specific incident, but I do remember the big guy's bitched about Fox News before.

I don't recall a single time he's griped about ABC or NBC or CBS or CNN or any of these other "mainstream" media outfits that, really, are far-left, while innocuous Fox is pretty much dead center.

Dawes, the lone Democrat seeking election, drew laughter when he introduced himself as “the tax-and-spend Democrat in the race.”

So frank, seeing that's his platform, what's his chances of success?

I'm guessing it's something close to zero, if not less.

I'm kind of surprised an employee of the police department can run for political office.

Maybe it's different because he's just a gofer and not a sworn officer.

It's going to be a very low turn-out; under normal circumstances, the big guy would then stand a chance, but the Tea Party Republican (Carmichael) and the former public works guy (Compton) have big name recognition, and the Libertarian (Knebel) really wants the job.

But due to the expected low turn-out, the big guy has a better chance this time around.....which is still pretty much close to a numeral resembling his body shape.

Naw, City Council is just a part time job with full time pay, which I'm sure is the reason this blabbermouth wants the job. I doubt seriously he gives a rusty about the dilemma of heating costs.

I thought he worked in the sewer dept. When did he get promoted to a police gopher?

While you were gone, attending to something really important in real life, which thank God appears to be over now.

You might recall the big guy was trying to get "retired" on the disability gravy train because of his work in the sewer.  He thought he had it coming, but then the city of Omaha instead of giving him a free ride for life, transferred him to a desk job where the greatest peril he faces are haemerrhoids.  Less pay, too.

Too bad for the big guy.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy! Wish I lived there so I could expose him for the fraud he is. Right now I'm battling this Common Core BS they're tryin' to shove down our throats in the school system. I suggest anyone who values the education our children get involved.

My children, thank the Lord, never had to go thru this indoctrination, but my grandkids are facing it square on. I want them to at least get the history of this nation without a leftist point of view.

What they are doing to the interpretation of our Constitution is unforgivable!

He had what appeared to be an easy job in the sewer department. He rode in a suspended chair that automatically traversed back and forth over the huge sewage receiving vat.

He carried a large paddle, and was responsible for stirring the sewage to prevent solids from settling out, and to promote decomposition of the burbling sewage stew.

The job must have been more difficult than an outsider would perceive, because its responsibilities became too much for Dawes to bear.

Once more unto the breach , or whatever it was they said. Stinging humility from the last loss plus running up debt over all those signs he had to pay for wasn't enough. That's ok because watching the Titanic sink over and over again never gets old.

The big guy's not thinking about a paycheck.

He's a Democrat, remember.

He imagines Omaha's like Chicago or Cleveland or Detroit or something, with their corrupt Democrat machines.

He's thinking all he has to do is sit in an office in city hall, and people'll come to him, giving him money.

Not for any particular reason, but simply because he's who he'd be, a machine politico.

It's not a conflict of interest. He gets paid by one city, but wants to sign the paychecks of another. He won't be voting on his own pay or have any control over the department where he spends his days*.

I'd agree that Omaha is corrupt but not in the way Stevie thinks it is. In fact if he's not careful he might find out just how bad it is and make a career change.

The DOTY race sure is heating up.  :yahoo:

Four DUmmies of the Apocalypse. Socialist Steve Dawes, crazy bald dwarf, Doug Bulna and Amber, AKA Lady freeDUmb.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Has Steve donated any underwear to a charity yet? You know you're a big name in politics when you can take a tax deduction for that.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Poor Steve, he has no idea how to run for any post, Steve needs to put on his big boy pants and find a controversial and interesting fight to get into.  And spend a few bucks for an honest to God business suit shirt and tie, look professional and not like some slob one gets stuck sitting next to at the Roller Derby.

Nebraska, not known as a sunshine state, so how many months of good weather will his town have to have to spend a fortune on Bicycle Paths  ?   Has he counted the number of people that will use these paths come good weather ?

It would be nice to have them, some of the towns up here have them, yet even in good weather as they run along side the road in places driving by one sees but a few if any using the paths.   How to maintain these paths in the snow and ice ?     Steve needs to get into logistics, Campaigning is darn hard work.

To win he has to convince voters he has the answers to town problems, WORKS hard and is the Answer man.   Steve needs to get out there and service the public with a resume of long lists of volunteer works and join a few Lodges to get support from the members.

Steve, learn to play golf, be seen on the town golf club links, keep your finger nails clean and kept, flirt with the woman over the age of your mother or grandma. Memorise the names of the people you meet and remember the names of their children---Ask about their family everytime you meet.

Politics is a JOB-Work and you must learn to play the game.

I have an idea, but I'm really hesitant to put it to use, because it's probably unethical.

As a moderator, I can edit comments made by other people here.

Whatever vesta posts is a "rough draft;" she needs an editor.

And so I've given thought--but no, I won't put it into action, because it's probably unethical--to, after vesta posts her rough draft, editing her comments so that they make sense, so that other members here find them agreeable.....or at least more readable.

(It sounds good, but no, I have no intention of doing it.)

The Friends of Steve Dawes (whoever they are) have apparently not seen the need to put the site back up.
I know they are brilliant, and wise beyond compare. This can only mean that Steve has no hope at the Bellevue city council.

Pity. I sometimes wonder how long it would take for Steve to get arrested for taking bribes, or impeached for corruption.

It would have been even more fun to see an incumbent Steve defending his record of doing nothing.
"Hey, I'm a union guy. It's what we do, NOTHING."

But best of all we will never see his moronic debates mocked by local radio and TV. We will never see his fellow councilmen laughing at him and excluding him from all the reindeer games.

So much comedy that could have been...

Well, in my book a promise to continue doing nothing would be one of the strongest arguments for reelection an incumbent could possibly make.
