     Sweet sassy molassey. An exit interview? Um, no. The purpose of an exit interview is to inform employees of their COBRA rights and any other reminders about noncompetes, nondisclosures, etc. An hourly employee would probably not fit into this category, and even if she did, the "HR" person couldn't/shouldn't give a country f*** WHY the moron is leaving. An exit interview is not something you prepare for, DUmmies. It isn't your golden opportunity to tell the company what you think of it. It's simply a slightly ceremonial way for you to be informed of your rights, if you have any, and to be done with you.

Amber's version of the imaginary exit interview will include how, despite her inability to quickly grasp the intricacies of working in a 'convenient' store and her leaving with only a few weeks of employment, she was begged to stay to be groomed for the position of assistant manager with a guaranteed promotion in minimum time.

In her story, she will have been asked to provide some insight into how the day to day operation of the store could be improved.  AND, there will be profuse offerings of apologies if she had been made to feel unwelcome.

I've had "exit interviews" before, but in jobs I held longer than she has, and in higher-ranking jobs.

Myself, being one of the "protected classes" (quotation marks sarcastic), I always got the impression the real reason was to find out if I might have any "handicapped discrimination" claims against the company, which of course was utter nonsense; I've always been fairly, if not magnanimously, treated.....and in fact always took care to put that in writing, in my letter giving notice of leaving.

But all these employment laws make employers overly paranoid.

Sometimes it is hard to follow DUmmy storylines, but I think it is that the store manager is a male, and the district/area manager is female.  That is the way it is at the convenience store where I have my daily coffee. 

The area manager has 6 or 7 stores, and visits in each one at least every other day.  Store managers come and go, but this area guy has been there for several years.
