With modern day bacon, it really isn't good for you. Too many nitrates. But, what IS really good for a person anymore? Walking across the street could get you killed!! Just enjoy it and damn the consequences. Remember, all things in moderation! 
Who gives a damn about moderation, as you pointed out walking across a street can kill you.
At some point we are all going to die, die young, die old, may as well have all we can get out of life while we can.
As a very wise man once I told him that smoking unfiltered cigarettes would kill him, told me, we all have to die of something. He died way before his time and I have 2 children without a father.
