No steak?

On a recommendation from our vet we have our Beagle on a green bean diet. Half of her daily food is swapped for green beans.

I thought for sure this was going to be some of the Obama family's favorite recipes.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

If I give my hound a green bean even if its wet with gravy she will spit it out!
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

~ Dr. William Pierce

Ours like green beans, carrots, corn and celery, but only cooked, not raw.  The vet said that the beans were the best for weight loss, because they were more filling versus the calorie count.

You'll trying to kill your dogs ?

Like the vegans that put their cats on a no meat diet found them dead after 2 weeks. Dogs and cats lions and tigers, wolves and polar Bears are CARNOVERS------  They may eat a veggie or two but 99% of the diet is meat, flesh bone and marrow

When my animals get too fat, I take them off store bought food and put them on a raw hamburger diet. Depending on the time of year, raw turkey nothing cooked, The Good Lord did not make carnivores  to have the ability to cook their food before eating it.

Intestinal systems are very different from man and beast.    Man has the system that is designed to digest both meat and plants,     a very long complicated system to get nutrition from most anything.

Meat eaters  is more of a straight through system,  just one thing to digest, meat and fat.  The digestive system has the enzymes to kill any bacteria from rotting meat I have never heard of a carnivore dying from eating a dead bird or a rotting carcass they come across.

I would not feed a week old baby a cooked pork chop to suck on.   Nor give a puppy orange juice.

Even wild dogs are more omnivore than carnivore.  Dogs need more than meat to be healthy and feeding a few more vegetables in place of their regular food can help them to lose weight. Overweight dogs face just as many if not more health problems than overweight people.

Disagree  :fuelfire:

A wild dog when starving may eat fallen apples but I have never caught a Coyote raiding my strawberry patch unless near to death from lack of meat.

dogs -- including wild dogs -- have survived for millennia because they have learned to eat whatever is available, and that includes vegetables.

It's a basic biological principle. Omnivores have more opportunity to eat, even in bad times, therefore they survive.

True but these are times of little protein ,starvation issues.

So would you feed a carnivore a diet of water, whole grain corn , meat by products, could be chicken feathers, some animals liver and 19 chemicals   ????

I am looking at Science Diet Light and am aghast at the little amount of meat or protein in the food.

We got a 4 pound package of cheap hamburger.   My pup is over weight, even a 30 minute walk each day does not bring down the weight.

So Experiment here, just raw hamburger, no sugar, no salt and no chemicals or vegetables.  Have to remember saw dust from a tree is considered a plant by product.

Will be interesting to see how the pup turns out on raw hamburger and no nothing else.

If all goes well, poor Hubby may be put on this diet of  no carbohydrates, --just meat and a salad.

Science Diet is garbage. It's a 1-star food, based on the ratings (see link below).

Try the 4-star or 5-star varieties. My golden eats Wellness Core (this is a 6-star food) and we've just begun with Diamond, which is a 3-star food for our other two dogs (this is a temporary measure). Our problem is access to decent foods. We may be stuck in getting our food at a very expensive boutique-kinda joint 40+ miles from home. Or begin using Petflow.com again -- also very pricey.

That is what kills me about these commercials for "gourmet" dog (and cat) food.  Check your label, and check ours!  We have fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts!  And Omega 3!  None of that is good for dogs!  The very "worst" part of the animal is what is best for cats and dogs.

The worst thing about most "big bag" pet foods is they have a lot of ash in them which eventually puts a strain on the digestive system.

Velvet gets Diamond Beef Meal & Rice, and I supplement with raw meat trimmings when I am cooking whole meats. Plus a little bacon, of course.

The worst thing about most "big bag" pet foods is they have a lot of ash in them which eventually puts a strain on the digestive system.

I read that grapes, raisins and most any dried fruit is very bad for dogs.

Thinking back to days on the farm, MIL's big dog survived mostly on goat milk.     I have no idea why MIL had 2 milk goats, no one drank the milk but the dog.  Only fed every other day and at 14 could still jump a 4 foot fence to chase a rabbit.

No dry food for the cats or dog, Some how I think the dry food contributes to tooth problems.  In the last 25+ years I notice the Vets making a fortune cleaning dog and cat teeth.  Cost us a little over $300.00 to have our rescue dog's abscessed tooth pulled, then later $800.00 to have them all yanked.

On the raw meat diet my animals do not poop so much, become regular, 30 or so minutes later after eating they go out, do their thing and that is it until they are fed next. Every thing gets digested at once, no waiting for nuts or grains or vegetables to take their time digesting.

Cost for 156 oz. of canned food is $20.00     I checked the label  and found just 4% crude protein rest is just fillers at 96% Yikes.    Hamburger At 2.25 per pound for 8 pounds is 100% protein costs $18.00.

Takes awhile a week or so before the dog' body adjusts to this diet, I do throw in a marrow soup bone once a week cleans the teeth, and I do catch Hubby sneaking the dog snacks, a raw carrot from time to time, or left over vegetables with some butter on them.

So I just reversed the ratio of food 4% vegetables and 96 % protein. No salt, or very low salt, NO sugar, no spices or flavor enhancers or so called meat flavored crap.  I am kind of passionate about this dog,  we lost our 2 rescue dogs due to age and physical problems and I truly believe most of the problems were due to feeding them both dry and canned foods.

BTW there is a recall on dry bagged dog food from a couple of high priced brands. This is serious as to recall a product costs the company a bundle of money and is a last ditch effort to avoid law suits.

I've found that dog is best cooked after marinading in a combination of soy sauce & 7 Up and then grilled. Just sayin'.......  :-)

I do believe in Korea it is the white dog that has the most flavor, other cultures prefer the black dog.

Yes my state does allow dogs to be raised for food, New Hampshire is interesting this way.

I have not checked on this but at one time as a kid , Cock Fighting was allowed in N.H. but no spurs.

Your marinating is missing --hot peppers, vinegar and sugar.
