First, could her description of the supposed assailant be any more of a stereotype? The only things missing from her description were a baseball cap on his head with "Git'r Done" on it, a Confederate Flag tattoo on his arm, and a barbecue sauce stain on his shirt.
Second, as pnwest points out, if that ever happened in real life, the mother would be loudly crying for help, and security would likely be called on the man.
Third, the kid goes nuts at the mere possibility of his mother removing the headband, yet doesn't react at all to a stranger doing it until after the stranger hits him?
Any bongs it may have gotten for certain elements (Taking place in a Wal Mart, involving a confrontation, etc.) are lost by how incomprehensibly stupid and poorly- written it is.
