Races close as Iowa kicks off White House campaign
Quote
DES MOINES, Iowa (Reuters) - Voters in Iowa begin the process of choosing the next U.S. president on Thursday with two close nominating races, as a new poll showed Barack Obama leading John Edwards among Democrats -- with Hillary Clinton falling to a potentially damaging third.

This from Reuters link. Drudge report says CSPAN and ZOGBY are reporting same. Anywho, it's on and America (today Iowa) are on the clock to pick a new POTUS.
"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

I would not want to be in the Clinton household tonight.  :uhsure:

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. There is a song by Denis Leary that fits so well. It's called "Life is gonna suck".

Rush said yesterday that it might be a good idea for Bill to hide the ash trays.

If you had to choose between Hillary and Edwards, who would you choose for prez?  Hillary scares me, but Edwards seems like such a weasel...I dunno who I'd choose.

It's the percent of people polled who said they would vote for a canidate.

Huckabee- 29.7%

Romney- 26.7%

Thompson- 11.7%

etc...

I am really surpised to see Huckabee get the nod, I am not 100% crazy about him but at least he acts like he WANTS to be POTUS unlike Fred, sad to say.  :(

The thought of Hillary being put in 3rd place gives me a sense of joy and peals of laughter.  :-)

That might be a problem on our part, the voters. We keep wanting someone who wants to be President, when all logic says, "who in the HELL would want the job?".

^exactly! I think the country has a bad case of ADD to be honest. We don't want a Presidential race. We want an American idol style race. Policy is boring. The general public would rather have nifty sound bites spoon fed to them and would rather hear about the candidates' personal lives than what their plan is to fix social security and the open borders just to name a few things. I never thought the day would come that I would sound like my grandpa (bless his soul) but dammit!!! There is too much at stake to screw around. We need adults running the show. Now the jokers I see begging for the job today. My grandpa is rolling over in his grave I bet.

This is why I think Thompson is the best man out of the current crop running. I really don't care about his "fire in the belly". He wants to do something, not be somebody. Ugh. I'm really over this election and it hasn't really even started. Huckabee is our Carter. I just know it. He's even got my mom fooled. This is a women who has always been a student of politics and to see her fawn over Huckabee is just mystifying. Her rationale is that "Well, he's a Christian."  :whatever: So was Jimmah Carter mom! Remember him!?!?!? The one you bitched about?

Great post, very accurately put into perspective.  :bravo:

I honestly think that Huckabee's being a preacher is what has sold him to so many. It's not that I have a problem with a president being a religious leader, I DO have a problem when they use it to sell themselves with it.  I see Huckabee doing just that. On so many other basic conservative principals, the man is just not conservative. I feel sold out
