Well, The Weather Channel's recently updated the snow forecasts.

We're smack in the 12"-18" belt. The brain damaged primitve is down in the 6"-12" belt, so it could happen.

Interesting fact about the way snow accumulation is measured now vs the past and why we we cannot realistically compare to the blizzard of 78.

In 78 they had a flat sheltered piece of ground and stuck a yard stick in and measured the total accumulated depth, regardless of how much compression occurred.

This went on until the early 80's. Now they have a flat sheltered surface and let the snow accumulate until it measures 1' then they clear it off and start again repeating as necessary.

So comparing accumulation totals today vs years past is not clear, as the snow measurements are compressed vs uncompressed.

This is why I am glad i am no longer stationed at Ft Drum, NY. Those idiots refused to close down the post even with more then 6" on the ground. Then on top of that the XO made me responsible to go out and clear off the parking lot with an old Dodge pickup truck with a blade. The first thing i did when I got my ETS orders was to turn in my military drivers licence and sure enough the next day they had an 11" snow come down and he starts knocking on my door at about 11Pm telling me to get out and drive. I told him sorry I can't do that Sir. He gets pissed and ask me 'Are you refusing an order from an Officer? " " " I responded. "No sir .I am refusing to drive a military vehicle without a licence to drive it". "What do you mean you don't have a licence to drive it?" "Sir I turned in my Licence to drive any military vehicle to the motor pool yesterday as part of my clearing out of the unit for ETS". He was pissed. He deserved it the way he treated everyone and for all the times I had to go out and clear parking lots for the Battalion without some kind of compensation for all the sleep I lost while driving most of the night to do it. Sorry ass ****tard.

And for Dain . When you wake up after the storm I hope you see this outside your home and you never dig out from under neath it.

Well, I'll have to see how this turns out.

At this point, I'm right in the middle of the 'screwn' zone - two feet of snow or better. My only real concern, (other than work on Saturday) Is my house's flat roof.

I suspect Ill be up there shoveling it off. - not to worry though, I have a roof hatch and a set of stairs that lead to it - I wont be climbing any ladders.

The forecast for northern New Jersey appears to have gotten slightly worse over the night, but damn it, not enough to put the brain-damaged primitive out of his misery.

I suppose instead of hoping that he gets buried by a mountain of snow, I'll start hoping a power-line snaps, or a tree breaks, falling on him.

Yup. The local schools haven't had one this year yet, and my wife and I were thinking that they didn't want the liability issues if someone went off the road going home. Curiously, the Albany SD is having school, but only a half-day.

The next time it snows, it'll be Winter Storm Orko, believe it or not, and later on, after the apocalyptic snowstorm Triton we'll try to survive Winter Storm Ukko.

I'm not making that up. Those are the official Weather Channel names.
