Seaweed
 Perhaps most commonly eaten wrapped around a sushi roll, nori is loaded with iodine, a mineral essential for proper thyroid function. While iodized salt was introduced in 1924 to prevent goiter, the increased emphasis on low-sodium diets and the popularity of sea salt, which often doesn't contain iodine, have recently resurfaced concerns about getting enough iodine. This trace mineral isn't the only benefit of sea vegetables. Nori contains high levels of vitamin K and iron, micronutrients essential for proper cellular function. Look for nori pieces in the international section of your supermarket and crumble them on top of chili, soups, and salads. (This will add a little extra salty flavor, so if you are salt sensitive, use less in your recipe.)

Sauerkraut
 Considering cabbage is low-carb, high-fiber, and contains cancer-fighting 3-indole carbinol and d-glucarate, a compound that works to clear excess estrogen, the veggie is already a superfood. Fermenting it into sauerkraut, however, puts it on nutritional steroids. The probiotics that drive fermentation also help repopulate your digestive system with healthy, hardworking good bacteria that lower inflammation, improve digestion, and maybe even aid in weight loss. Plus fermentation increases the bioavailablity of the antioxidants found in cabbage, and the longer cabbage ferments, the higher the levels of antioxidants become, meaning your body can better absorb and use them.

 Vitamin K is important for blood clotting and B vitamins are necessary for energy metabolism, and you can find both in asparagus. Love sauerkraut, but I'd have to stick to vitamins for the seaweed and asparagus. 

Yogurt is another super food that I love too.  It contains all kinds of goodies for a lot of things to keep you healthy.  You can also buy that in powdered form and rehydrate it.  It has a pretty good shelf life too.

Asparagus and Sauerkraut both make your waste smell! Anyone know if seaweed is in the same category? I wont eat seaweed!

Can't stand asparagus - even the white kind, available only in season - and that seaweed thing goes along with the fishheads and rice thing that turns my stomach.  :puke:

Beets? Pickled beets, maybe, but ya gotta hold a gun to my head.

Cabbage? Love it in cole slaw, but cooked it ain't a real favorite. Don't even talk to me about Brussels sprouts, which is another form of cabbage, AFAIC.

The rest of that shit, fuggedaboudit. Hemp seeds? I might give those to my parrots, but nobody named me Polly lately.

I'm a big fan of sauerkraut. However, after I eat it, my family's not....  :-)

Love asparagus. I grill it drizzled with EVOO and italian seasoning mix.

Beets...meh. Used to love them, but now I'll eat them if they're there.

The rest is animal food.

I love those huge sausages cooked in sauerkraut.  The hub loves it too.  He won't eat the canned kraut, only the fresh frozen kind in the plastic bags, but I still buy the canned and cook with it because it stores easier and longer...and if I don't tell him, he can't tell the difference.  :rofl:

Fried Tatters, cabbage & venison sausage, now that's eating.

I actually like all them "Superfoods" except the seaweed.

Didn't much care for asparagus as a youngster but love it now.

I'm not a fan of sweet vegetables.  I'll eat a small amount of roasted beets if they are mixed with other, less sweet, vegetables.

Try roasting some broccoli or brussel sprouts they are very tasty. I drizzle then with some olive oil, salt and pepper.
