It's good to have you here, sir.  Sounds like I missed a lot over at CU.

Too bad they don't still have the gallery up...  Seems like Frank would be way more accomodating...:)

We've always been eminently comfortable with decent and civilized people ridiculing the primitives.

Sounds like I missed a lot over at CU.

Yeah, I probably did too; when I first joined, I didn't pay much attention to the personalities.

I had this rather vague notion that daveman, Dark Halo, and Demonic Underwear ran it, although I was aware some reticient guy actually owned it.

And there were these constant tussles with that bitch, Melissa or Marjorie or Melanie or Melinda or whatever her name was.  I guess she was married to one of the powers there.

I came on board there during the Scamdal, and was rather more preoccupied with that, than with anything else.

For me, it seemed the place started going downhill, alas, after discussion of the Scamdal was forbidden, but I was around long enough to become good friends with many, including SarasotaRepub, who now owns the site.

I heartily recommend www.conservativeunderground.com to anyone and everyone, but I found my own cup of tea in a place where discussion of primitives is, uh, rather more spirited, and encouraged.  One should try it out; one might like our old home.

I have never posted here before.

In a previous incarnation I was Gern at CU.  I think I posted a while at Neutralunderground, too, until Melissa made us all wear floaties and kid gloves and wouldn't let us smack the liberals around to my liking.

So I kind of retired, I guess.

The site was owned by Robcrook, and run by a guy named Gator.  There were a handful of originals; Sarasotarepub, Saint Louis Woman, Gator, DarkHalo, Daveman, a guy named Coach, USA4me, Freeper, myself, and probably a few others that I can't remember, but not many more.

Originally mockery of DU was encouraged and spirited, but slowly grew too restricted; don't post pics and make fun of them, don't do this, that, etc.  They would sign up and try to refute a lot of the threads where we called them out, and we had even more fun goofing on them one on one, until that got more restrictive, too.

You are referring to Melissa, who signed on as a conservative but was really a stealth centrist with what turned out to be leftist tendencies.  She started a site called Neutralunderground, where both sides were encouraged to post, and I started posting there because I thought I could have free reign to bitchslap DUmmies again. It ended up more like NeuteredUnderground, when she established all these draconian rules against "personal attacks" and other silly garbage.

So I stopped posting altogether, anywhere.  That was close to 5 or 6 years ago.

Probably more history than you wanted, but that's the whole story.

No, not at all, thank you!

By the way, I heard a rumor somewhere that neutralundergound exists no more.

Yes it's been mercifully mothballed.  That's what happens when you straightjacket a site that has both liberals and conservatives posting on it and try to make it all kum ba ya.

I warned her of this in my last pm to her, when I left.  Now look..."Poof"...gone like a fart in the wind.

Well, we have a few sob-sisters here, who insist sometimes we're being "too mean" to the primitives.

You know, the kind who think that if we were nice to the primitives, the primitives would be nice back to us.

Yeah, sure.

It's never happened.

<<knows.

It's never happened.

Fortunately, we got a good group here with a more-realistic view of the primitives; BadCat, USA4ME, GOBUCKS, Tucker, wasp69, Karin, delilahmused, &c., &c., &c., and if you're that way, Hell, you should fit in fine.

Nothing good comes out of trying to be nice to the primitives.

I need to add before I hit the sack:

There's others with realistic perceptions of the primitives, such as formerlurker, thundley4, Chris_, SGT Snuggle Bunny, Freeper, &c., &c., &c., but they tend to cover an iron fist with a velvet glove.

Some of us don't even want to mess with making any blows softer.

It was worse than that.  Not only were we supposed to play nice with the ****heads but the libs had full reign to do as they damn well pleased while the conservatives were muzzled and straight jacketed.

Predictably, after the libs shit all over the carpet and tore up the furniture, it ended with little more than a whimper.
"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

Well, Cap'n, as you have likely already surmised, CC is multi-faceted and open to all sorts of opinions and positions on the issues.

franksolich et. al. have talked at length about the primitives and how they are not to be trusted, how they are generally uninformed, ill-kempt, and generally unworthy, despicable critters.

I have to assume all that is true because I, and perhaps one or two more, make it a practice not to visit the DUmp, not to negotiate the turgid, brackish waters of Skin's Island (whatever the **** that is) and otherwise bother too much with the primitives and what they're saying.

I'm comfortable right here in other areas, happily posting away and otherwise having a good time.

Just the word "primitive" has a decidedly caustic flavor. Sorta like used skivvies that have been blown out one too many times. Just not worth the effort.

Like a big happy family reunion here. Aaaaaaaw...

Welcome home. I'm the Colonel. I'm Sgt Snuggle's son. I'm the biblical side of CC, but still rough around the edges. I get it from him.
