This is Captain Spaulding
« on: January 07, 2013, 06:33:24 AM »
Hello

I am Captain Spaulding.

Many of you know me by another name, although I have not posted anywhere for many years, having been very busy with other things.  As such, I felt it fitting to reincarnate myself...somewhat.

I see many familiar faces here up to familiar antics.  I am pleased to see the lampooning of the craziest collection of reprobates, miscreants, and other various and sundry losers on the planet; the DUmp, has been carried on in fine tradition here.

I am hoping I can contribute to the derision and mockery.

An ISP check on Captain Spaulding might be in order.

And yeah, add me to the list of those who are wondering under what name you posted under. Several come to mind already....

I have never posted here before.

In a previous incarnation I was Gern at CU.  I think I posted a while at Neutralunderground, too, until Melissa made us all wear floaties and kid gloves and wouldn't let us smack the liberals around to my liking.

So I kind of retired, I guess.

Well, I'm not sure if Tots nearly had a heart attack like I did, but we both know of a poster who went by the name of Evil Clown on several boards who died several years ago.  When I saw Capt. Spaulding's photo, I thought maybe he had come back to life.

Welcome, Capt. Spaulding.

Just to be clear though, your wife's name isn't Rochelle, is it?   :hammer:

Welcome Cap'n. Forgive the Doubting Thomas bit, but we've seen a steady influx of trolls and their sock puppets.

Me too; I'm not placing it.

Of course, I didn't join our old home until about May 2005, and so maybe this was before then?

Either that, or I have a bad memory?

Quite understandable.

Fear not:  I am as authentic as they get; I was once known as the Scourge of DU; the originator of the infamous 40 page DU picture thread at Conservative Underground; The Sultan of Sarcasm; The Thrasher of Liberals in the Thunderdome, and Bloviator Extraordinaire.

SaraR pops over from time to time and I think he runs CU now, gator hopped on the Ron Paul freak wagon, and I think daveman hangs out at some forum that AdamWood started.

 :rotf:

Let me tell you, fellow CCers, if we can get the good Captain (gonna be hard not to call you Gern) to stick around, we're all in for a treat.  Smart guy and he goes for the throat, but in an English Major sort of way.

He was there right after things really got going in the Best/Worst of DU forum at CU in 2004 and 2005.  This guy's a trip.  And the pic thread was a classic.  It was right after they started their DU Gallery that the good Cap't started bringing over their pics and ripping them to shreads.  Caused such a stir that RobCrook said we couldn't bring their pics over to CU anymore, but it was worth it at the time.

Stick around, Gern.  You just gotta.

Welcome, Captain Spaulding.

I was also skeptical, due to a recent infestation of lice (all with the same ISP, I believe). I am happy to say I was wrong. It's going to be good to have you here.

Gator had pm'd me, apparently they were emailing Rob left and right, demanding that the thread be taken down or else they would sue!  Pfhahaha!  What a bunch of crybabies....

Too bad they don't still have the gallery up...  Seems like Frank would be way more accomodating...:)
