Power Supply adapters
« on: December 08, 2012, 12:05:43 AM »
OK, a "client" brought a laptop for me to look at &/ or repair. It wouldn't power up. They had used an aftermarket power supply with adapters. Upon inspection and after looking up which adapter fit that particular laptop, I discovered that she had used the wrong adapter and ultimately fried the motherboard. She had given me the laptop, power supply & adapter. That "client" brought another laptop to me for me to troubleshoot & I wound up using that adapter for her current laptop. Now she claims she NEVER gave that to me & wants the stupid adapters back. What say y'all?

Dealing with the public is a pain in the ass.

Do what makes you comfortable, Thor.

Henceforth, create a log of what a client gives you, with a copy of the log to the client.

Give her the adapters back and keep the laptop.  O-)

Seriously, did you sign a receipt for the laptop? For the adapters? Did she pay you for your time?

If not, she doesn't have a damned thing to say.

Once she pays you, give her back all of what she gave you and nothing more.
