1896 but they didnt become a d-1 football school til around 2000

I figured as much, but they should've stayed in the lesser leagues.

It'd be like Nebraska getting a rowing team.

Anyway.  I've been in and out, here and there.

Nicholls State 3, Oregon State 77, final.

Kansas 10, West Virginia 59, final.

Middle Tennessee State 0, Arkansas State 45, final.

Louisiana-Lafayette 35, Florida Atlantic 21, final.

Cincinnati 21, Connecticut 17, fourth quarter.

Boise State 24, Nevada 14, fourth quarter.

Alabama 10, Georgia 7, half-time.

New Mexico State 28, Texas State 52, third quarter.

The Alabama-Georgia game's got to be a barn-burner.

Unless Ga closes up some of the holes in the defense I think Alabama is going to pull away.

<<thinks Oregon and Oregon State belong in the same league as Nicholls State, until they've played football for a while.

Well, both Oregons diddled around for about a hundred years, and then decided they could buy "instant" tradition.

It's not like they played any big-time football those first hundred years.

I think Connecticut should go back to Division II football and work on upgrading their rowing team instead.

Alabama 25, Georgia 21, fourth quarter.

New Mexico State 28, Texas State 66, final.

Pittsburgh 0, South Florida 0, first quarter.

Alabama is 36-25-4 against Georgia, or Georgia is 25-36-4 against Alabama.

<<trying to be impartial here.

I didn't know this:

Quote
The Auburn–Georgia football rivalry is between the Auburn University Tigers and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. The two teams first played each other in 1892 and have met nearly every year since, for a total of 116 games as of 2012. Because of its longevity, the series is sometimes known as the "Deep South's oldest rivalry".

Quote
In 1942, Georgia won the national championship with an 11-1 record, beating UCLA in the 1943 Rose Bowl. But Georgia didn't beat Auburn, falling 27-13.

Quote
On November 14, 1959, at Sanford Stadium in Athens, as time ran short, Georgia player and future Auburn head-coach Pat Dye recovered a fumble by Auburn quarterback Bryant Harvard. Georgia quarterback Fran Tarkenton's touchdown pass in the final seconds gave Georgia a 14-13 victory and cost Auburn a Southeastern Conference championship. Georgia went on to claim the 1959 SEC Championship and the 1960 Orange Bowl Championship with a victory over Missouri in Miami.

Quote
The AU-UGA game has been held in many different cities - Atlanta, Athens, Macon, Columbus, Savannah, Montgomery - but on November 12, 1960, the Bulldogs made their first trip to the Loveliest Village on the Plains; a game which the Tigers won 9-6. This marked a huge change for the Tigers, as Auburn's biggest rivals - Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Alabama and Georgia - previously would not travel to Auburn. Georgia Tech's first visit came in 1970, while Tennessee eventually came in 1974. It would take Auburn's biggest rival, Alabama, almost 30 years after UGA to make the trip.

^^^one wonders why these other teams didn't want to go play on Auburn's home turf.

Anyway, that's Georgia-Auburn; I can't find anything on Alabama-Georgia.

What a bonehead play from Georgia to lose the game
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism. -Kenny Powers

That didn't lose them the game. Not being able to stop the rush lost them the game. He was throwing to Malcolm Mitchell. It got deflected. There wasn't a guarantee that he was going to catch it anyway as he was well-covered. Should he have spiked it? Most definitely. He'd have been able to get his line lined up properly. The goal is not to put yourself in that position to begin with. They all but had the pass locked down. They just couldn't stop the run. Most of the time, yeah. When it counted? No.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

If you told Georgia at the beginning of the game that they could have the ball inside the 10 with 10 seconds left and down by 4 they would probably have taken that situation. Sure in the long run their lack of defense lost them the game but they were in a great position to win and blew it.

I left about half an hour before that one game in Indianapolis, and ended up seeing some of the game on television in town.

Nebraska 31, Wisconsin 70, final.

Oh well.  There's always next year.....

Well, I see Nebraska's to play Georgia in the Tangerine Bowl down in Orlando.

I think it's an insult to Georgia, giving them us as an opponent.

A few bowls look good:

Chick-fil-A Bowl - Clemson vs. LSU
Cotton Bowl - TAMU vs. OU
Fiesta Bowl - Oregon vs. K State
Nat'l Champ - Bama vs ND

There's a few others that could be interesting like So. Carolina vs. Michigan, No. Illinois vs. FSU, Florida vs. Louisville, and Wisconson vs. Stanford.

Texas v Oregon State should be a pretty good one. The Big 12 and Pac 12 are fighting for 2nd best conference
