Hand cleaner that works?
« on: November 21, 2012, 12:38:42 AM »
What happened to the hand cleaners that were so full of pumice and chemicals that they almost hurt to use?
I even bought a bar of lava soap and it was only nominally rougher than my Safeguard and Irish Spring.
I work in dirt and grease and brother, until you've encountered  Kopr Kote and oil based paint and 3 kinds of mud in the same afternoon, you don't know hard to wash off.

I work with some stuff that I have to use lacquer thinner or Brakleen and some Zep brand of handcleaner.

Zep industrial at Advanced Auto Parts. When I get into the muck nitrile gloves come out or it takes a week off for my hands to get clean.
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

Amen.  I started using gloves for the really dirty jobs.

Other than that, it's GOJO and Softsoap.

If I needed spotless hands after working in black diesel motor oil, I washed my hands in diesel fuel, then used GO-JO, followed by BORAXO(?) powdered hand cleaner and a scrub brush.....finally just plain soap and some more of the brush.

That even got out last weeks black that was still in the cracks.

A Scotch-Brite pad with any hand cleaner works pretty well, too.

In a pinch, WD-40 may help.  ERs use it to take off tar, and I've used it sucessfully on things like oil and paint.

GoJo &/or Don Maximo bar soap (available via the web or your local Mexican market). Between those & a scotch-brite pad, the green one, I can get every lick of dirt & grease off of my hands.

That's downright against the "man code"......

Yeppers .  If diesel fuel & Go-Jo  and the occasional bar of Lava don't clean the grime off then oh well it's just going to have to wear off.

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

+1 on Zep, especially Zep Cherry Bomb.  Cleans anything and leaves you smelling great  :cheersmate:

Just remember, not to allow it near small children or animals.... Which is likely why you can't find it at non-specialty stores.
