Recently, fact checking has become a huge trend in media, but everybody knows the fact checkers are just as biased as the people they are checking. How can we fact check the fact checkers?
WeCheck, the
world's first people-powered fact check, cuts out the middleman and gives YOU the power to fact check politicians and their media allies.
WeCheck uses Wikipedia-like collaborative editing to help contributors with all kinds of political views work together to fact check speeches and political commentary on an independent, non-partisan system. It works by allowing users to tags and link text to create Fact Check pages.
Anyone can edit WeCheck pages. In addition to basic tags such as [[TRUE]], [[FALSE]] there are 40 other tags like [[STRAW MAN]], [[CIRCULAR]], [[AD HOMINEM]], [[CORRELATION]], [[MORAL EQUIVALENCE]], [[NAZI]], [[RACE CARD]] etc. which contributors can use to educate other readers about how politicians and commentators try to manipulate you.
Recent questions have included:
Did the Obama Administration apologize for the Libyan Embassy Attacks? TRUE
Did President Obama create 4.5 million new jobs? FALSE
Has President Obama signed trade agreements with other nations? FALSE
We are working on a full fact check of
Barack Obama's Convention Speech and we are looking for YOU to contribute to recent questions like:
Has Mitt Romney flip-flopped on Health Care reform? UNCHECKED
Did Barack Obama vote to deny rights to abortion survivors? UNCHECKED
When you hear media bias, don't get mad, get even. Come to WeCheck and set the record straight with your text, links and sources. We can only fight media bias if we work together.
With your help I hope we can get enough contributors to be able to fact check the upcoming Presidential Debates and push back against MSM bias. And as WeCheck grows I hope it will not just become an incredible repository of facts and sources about particular claims, but it will also be a real test of how "truth" is determined by large groups of people. I hope you will join me.
