How much do you bet those teachers will move out of Cook County the minute they retire?

Only a dedicated cog would stay and feed the machine if they could go elsewhere.
I doubt they live there, now.  :whatever:
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

I expect test scores in Chicago public schools to gradually improve as the dumber students continue to be shot by their quicker-witted classmates.

I just ran across this over at the DUmp:

Quote
High-school graduation rates have improved and high-school test scores are up, according to an analysis last year by the Consortium on Chicago School Research at the University of Chicago.

I did not expect my hypothesis to be confirmed so quickly by the DUmp.

It's as reliable as the concept that DUmmies lie, all the time:

The bluer the city, the more crushing the tax burden on its resident DUmpmonkeys.

And the higher the cost of living.

That picture of the heffers of teaching shows the true left; Fat, Ugly, and Angry.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

You have to admit that it's tough not to improve on zero, right?

Back years ago the Mob--err State government in New Hampshire tried for a few years to put in a State Lottery.  No way said the voters time after time.    Finally the Mob-err Government got smart and began to advertise that the procedes of the lottery would go to the school system.

We have some very poor towns in the upper part of the State and  :bawl: :bawl: :bawl: big money was spent to convince the voters that these schools needed help for the sake of the children.  Cleaver advertising insinuated that the anti lottery people hated children, were mean skin flints and without a lottery the kids would have to use out houses and carry umbrellas to use in class rooms as when it rained the holes in the roof would drench them.

So if this were all true after all these years of having a lottery why do I have to pay $1,200 a year extra to the tax man as we are a donor town.

I have been surprised at the amount of items the school system expects the children to supply themselves.  Far as I can remember we kids just carried a small pencil box, my kids did need 2-3 binders, but the grand kids each need at least $50.00 each of supplies for a FREE education.

The man that invented the Segway lives in the next town, very expensive town and donated 200 + computers to the town elementary school.  Why was this donor town not able to buy these items themselves,  they were buying computers for another school system for their kids and their own went without.

Where is the so called procedes from the lottery going, where is the money from the Federal government going,  where is the tax payers money going ??

I do remember how happy the school systems in small towns saw us as a military family move into town with 4 kids. The Government at that time paid the school system a thousand bucks for each child in school.   I found out by accident that in 5 moves in 7 years the towns each one kept collecting for my kids that were not in their school system nor had been in 4  + years.

The system is so corrupt that perhaps it can never be fixed.

Well, when democrats are involved they know how to milk the system (because they invented the hand-out system).  :-)

Within the next couple of days, Rahmbo will get a call from the jug-eared Kenyan.

Within a few hours after that, the teachers' union will get whatever it is they're asking for, and the strike will be over.

Clearly the best plan of action for the education system is more pointless spending, rather than actually improving schools? Obama is either stupid or actively trying to make the US go the way of Greece, economically.

Actually - My prediction differs slightly. The great and powerful '0' will get some union heavyweights to shut this down, bring the teachers back to the table, where they will ultimately accept the original offer, minus a couple of insignificant points, so they can call themselves 'winners' in this debate.

If there are no students, do they really need the SEIU support staff? Less people the city has to pay! If they choose not to work, **** em.

Some of the schools had been staying open for several hours a day to give the kids a meal, and to give their parent(s) time to make some other arrangements for their children's care.

I'm guessing that those people doing that work were SEIU.

Since the kids showing up aren't busy with school work, put them to work cleaning up after themselves. It will be a good lesson to show them what is in their future if they don't take their education seriously

I remember watching shows that were based in the old west, and the students did work at their schools after school.  They would help the teacher keep their schools clean.

You might be right.

I know from past experience it's often not safe to cross any picket line. Your vehicle can be damaged, others have been followed home, etc. I know of companies that had to hire security for salaried employees to watch their houses and families during the day. The thugs are nuts.

I did that (not the old west). I went to Catholic school and students would take turns staying after school to clean. Actually, there always seemed to be students kept after for other reasons but cleaned.   :-)

From my childhood, back when kids still had to learn to read, and write, and spell, and solve algebra problems, and write geometry proofs quoting theorems and corollaries, I cannot imagine anyone in the process being a union goon like these nuts in Chicago.

Of course, these Chicago louts are more like prison guards than educators, and are people who couldn't get a job teaching in the suburbs, so I guess it's not too surprising.

I think it's endemic in the public school system.  The worst teacher I've ever had is now principal of the school, thirty years later.

Again....ALLL-together now...

THE ENTIRE STRIKE IS BEING STAGED BY THE CHICAGO "BROTHERHOOD."

The "strike" is strictly a mechanism where the teacher's union, the Rahm administration, and the local democrats are working in concert with the Obama administration to give Obama millions of dollars of free, positive real-time publicity.

Case in point: the union is asking for a 16% across the board raise. In an era where ANY raises are being given at ALL is very illustrative. What will happen is this:

1. The teacher's union and Rahm will have "spirited" but talks will stall at an impasse.

2. Barack will publicly say something like "gee, the kids need to go back to school" or something similar without arguing against either the teachers or the Rahm administration.

3. In reality, behind the scenes the Obama administration-slash-campaign (why even bother pretending there's a legal disconnection anymore), the Rahm administration, and the teacher's union will hammer out a deal so that Obama can take the credit, along with Rahm, as they will probably "settle" for an 8% increase....which is what the teacher's union wanted in the FIRST place!

4. Obama's trip to Chicago will be heralded with "bated breath:".... can Obama save the day in Chicago? The media states that if it is successful, Obama is good as elected.

5. His teleprompter will give him a great speech.

6. Everyone shakes hands, the deal is struck. The teachers are not completely happy, but in fact they got the deal they were originally shooting for in the first place.

7. Rahm is happy... he got the teachers the biggest increase in the Obama era while appearing to be "fiscally conservative" because he "agreed with Obama" that the "kids need to be taken care of first and foremost."

8. Finally, the Obama media get hours and hours and hours of Obama material, as well as material in which Obama can come in and be "fiscally conservative in a compassionate" way. Tons of FREE campaign material, as well as the ability for Madcow, Tingles, and Bashir to bash Romney and Ryan.

DON'T DOUBT ME ON THIS.

I wonder how mayors and school boards in Greece are handling this sort of thing.

Rahmbo and the jug-eared muslim should check into that, for future reference.
