Yep that kind of stupid should hurt. Then again BanTheGOP would have to have brains in order for it to be. GoDaddy.com would have to be run by idiots to remove a website made up of nothing but quotes from Steve Dawes. All they will do is look at the links find them to be true and follow the laws regarding this and that's it. The web site will stay

I just don't get people like BantheGOP.  Everything on www.electstevedawes.com is true.  Nothing has been put there is a lie.  It's all from Omaha Steve's pudgy little sausages that he typed out on the keyboard (ugh can you imagine what food is stuck in his keyboard? :o )

So why would GoDaddy transfer ownership of www.electstevedawes.com to Steve Dawes of www.electstevedawes.com  ???

Are they saying that anything written on the web about someone that hurts their feelers even if true can now be transferred to the subject of the website like www.electstevedawes.com ?

Their logic is  :mental:  And if that little **** said one thing to me outside a Rep HQ I would punch him in his little snotty nose.  Jail is okay for the pleasure of giving one of those shitsmears a right wing swing.  :bird:

The best part is...it is NOT a parody site.

Steve Dawes actually posted everything there in a public internet forum.

Yeah, people should be a little cautious with their language, lest it damage the big guy's credibility.

That is not a "parody site."

The site is wholly the creation of Steve Dawes, accurately quoting words he actually spoke (or wrote, rather).

What I don't understand is, if Steve actually believes everything he posted, and thinks what he posted was just fine and dandy, hmm, what'da problem is? Seems like we're helping Steve get his message out. Are you backtracking on your message, Steve-O? Maybe being a little dishonest?

I think the friends of the big guy did a masterful work, putting that together while the candidate dithered around doing it himself.

And sadly, his friends probably did a better job than he himself could.

www.electstevedawes.com

franksolich had counseled his fellow Nebraskan that it was important he get his platform, his plank, his campaign promises, up as quickly as possible, so as to attract donations.

But n-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o, apparently he thought all he had to do was solicit donations without saying anything else.

Or maybe subconsciously he was laying around hoping someone else to do the work for him.

Perhaps the big guy hasn't noticed yet that the counsel of franksolich and the counsel of professional Democrats is exactly the same counsel.  If the big guy doesn't trust his professional fellow Democrats, it'd be a good idea if he trusted his fellow Nebraskan instead.

Maybe we should send Ban a free bumper sticker. Then he will stop sucking his thumb and whining.

He, of all those site idiots, should appreciate Steve's position points on http://www.electstevedawes.com . Indeed, Steve probably got the impetus from Ban to run for office in the first place. After all, Ban says the vast majority of citizens are progressive; why else run waddle for office?

Every single word at http://www.electstevedawes.com/# is from Steve Dawes own lips.  Every single syllable can be traced back to the DUmp.  Tell Steve Dawes, whose ample socialist postings can be read at http://www.electstevedawes.com/#, to keep his pie hole shut if he doesn't want to be quoted.

BTW, please visit http://www.electstevedawes.com/#  Thank you.

Well, maybe the campaign manager can inform his brilliant web designer to offer this bumper sticker for free on http://www.electstevedawes.com. Heck, maybe he can go even farther and use the bumper sticker as a header image for the site! That would be totally awesome, as then Steve's constituents can just download the HEADER and then duct-tape to their Reince Prius cars. Better yet, http://www.electstevedawes.com can go to Cafe Press or something and set up an account so people can purchase merchandise to help out his campaign! I'm sure that if Steve's campaign manager would do such a thing, there would be a WHOLE BUNCH of different bumper stickers and campaign posters that his supports will create FOR FREE, and EVERY ONE of them would prominently display http://www.electstevedawes.com!

The laws that BTG is referring to involve domain squatting, or trademark infringement - where someone buys a domain with the intent of holding it hostage until the interested party pays a fortune to take it over.

For example -

Let's say Microsoft accidentally forgets to renew their domain name, and someone else buys it up, then uses it to host pornography until Microsoft agrees to pay a hefty ransom to the new owner. - Thats domain squatting.

The other case is trademark confusion - for example - Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs gives up that gig and decides he wants to enter the software publishing business, and he buys the domain name MikeRoweSoft.com - Microsoft may have a case if it can be determined that MikeRoweSoft.com is too similar to their trademarked Microsoft.com

So - which case applies to www.electstevedawes.com ?

The answer is neither. http://www.electstevedawes.com is not trying to bribe the candidate Steve Dawes.

And one cannot trademark a person's name, unless that name is 'distinctive'. ( http://www.wipo.int/sme/en/faq/tm_faqs_q4.html ) - Doing a Facebook search for 'Steve Dawes' brings up dozens of results, so that avenue is closed.

Hm-m-m...

To Whom It May Concern,

In the fair city of Bellevue, Nebraska, resides a Mr. Steve Dawes. Currently, Mr. Dawes is running for the seat of City Council, Ward 1. Mr. Dawes is a longtime union activist and is dedicated to progressive causes so much so he has been published at Marxist websites. Mr. Dawes has shared his experiences over the years with his political confederates at the notorious website democraticunderground.com (DU) where Mr. Dawes posts under the username Omaha Steve.

This is known because the antics of DU cannot be overlooked anymore than one could overlook a wrecked circus train whose animals are escaping and running amok. For the purpose of capturing and preserving the imagery of this spectacle there are those who collect and archive the more ardent posts that make DU what it is. As the years have gone by personalities such as Mr. Dawes have risen to prominence. When Mr. Dawes announced his candidacy it was met with much excitement at DU and those sites wherein DU is viewed for entertainment.

As was surmised, Mr. Dawes has chosen not to share his Marxist views with the constituents he would presume to govern. To remedy this obfuscation, or if you prefer: oversight, a website was established to put on display Mr. Dawes’ political history and ruminations. The site is http://www.electstevedawes.com and it is wholly without personal commentary except Mr. Dawes in his own words, at length and unedited. For the truly skeptical screen captures of Mr. Dawes’ posting history at DU are provided for corroboration.

Overtime, DU has become aware that it is being watched, as one might watch in fascination burlesque starring two-headed, three-legged dancers. Once DU caught wind of the website several of Mr. Dawes most strident supporters became furious that the activism that endeared Mr. Dawes to their hearts was now available for survey by the proles. Among their own they consider his words glorious; outside their tightly moderated hive a show of those exact same words is deemed “thuggery.”

Now, certain elements at DU want to bring pressure to bear against domain registrar GoDaddy.com with the expressed intent of seizing the site from the rightful, paying owner and giving it to Mr. Dawes to dispose of as he pleases. GoDaddy.com recently took a political and market bruising when it endorsed the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) so it would be reasonable to be concerned that GoDaddy.com might yield to histrionics when calm would better serve their purposes. If this fear is borne-out only a firm and steady counter pressure will right the situation.

Those seeking to affect this seizure of rightful, lawful and ethically employed property readily admit to standing outside Republican campaign offices with the intent to harass and intimidate workers.

If Godaddy.com maintains any pretense of brokering ownership services for what remains of its client base it could provide no greater an example than to set aside cat-calls from those who seek to silence voices that disagree with them and not concern itself with a site whose stated purpose is to promote a political candidate’s own words. Certainly a renewed controversy concerning potential censorship would reflect poorly for a service that relies on broadening free speech across the World Wide Web.

We trust GoDaddy.com will act, if not lawfully and ethically, at least in its own best interests.

The question is why would Socialist Steve want to direct traffic away from www.electstevedawes.com ?  It's the best site I've seen to document his political viewpoints over the years.  If he wants to win this election, he needs to embrace his socialist political foundation, and the www.electstevedawes.com does just that.  The website is definately a benefit to him, accurately portraying just who he is and how he will vote on behalf of those he would desire to represent.

I highly recommend www.electstevedawes.com .
