They don't look any more expensive than my new Kia.  Maybe the people who complain about expensive BMW parts are used to buying parts for old rustbucket Fords?

Besides, we have plenty of junkyards around here.

If you feel the need to power clean, just drive on over to my house.   :-)

Not until she's done with replacing some fencing at my house!  :-)

I'm seeing $200-$300 for an AC compressor, $15-30 for a fuel filter, and $50 for a serpentine belt.

The E36 chassis has been around for 20 years.  I hope the price of parts has come down some.

Those are not bad prices...a little high...but not bad.

It took me roughly two hours, a few choice curse words, a chipped fingernail, and a silent plea with the Almighty, but I somehow managed to replace my right rear tail light in my Ford Focus.

May I just say...what a pain in the @#$!

But I feel very accomplished now and I think I might run with this enthusiasm and do some more fix-it projects around the apartment. I usually wait for a kind male friend to help me with such tasks, but who needs men, really?  :-)

I'm a little surprised that none of your male neighbors offered to help.  you must live in a liberal apartment complex. :-)

They must have all been sleeping in. I mean I was out there early, like 9 a.m.
Speaking of neighbors. Yessterday I bought a new office chair, I took it outside today to get it out of the way, and it had to be put together...being a nice day, I thought I would assemble it outside.

Had some indoor things to do first....went outside and it was already done....a neighbor seen it sitting there and assembled it!

I thought you were going to say somebody stole it!  :rotf:

That would probably happen to me.

I checked out that 325.  It was f**king trash.  :censored:

The leather wasn't even leather anymore... it was crust.  And it was all torn up.  The windshield had a dozen big cracks in it, and the engine has 200,000 miles on it.  It's not even worth $1000.  I suppose if you had another 325 with a nice interior, it would be worth it but I don't have a spare one lying around at the moment.

I drove that 733i today.  The damn thing had no brakes.  It had 200,000+ miles on it but drove great until it ran out of gas on me.  I ended up walking back to this girl's house.  Wouldn't you know it, they were doing construction on the road and I ended up walking back through the mud.

The outside of the car was in great shape.  A small bit of surface rust on the bottom of the doors, but other than that, it was okay.  The interior was relatively decent but messy.  It needs a good cleaning and some leather treatment.  The whole car needs to be cleaned inside and out and it would look ten times better.  Couple of small problems... fuel gauge doesn't read right (probably why I ran out of gas) and something is draining the battery.  And brakes.  Definitely needs brakes.

Had a mechanic look at the car today.  He said it was in good shape.  The steering felt heavy, though, especially compared to my current car.  This damn thing has a ton of idiot lights.  There's a light for everything.  At least the Germans organized them into a convenient block on the left side of the dashboard.

If it will pass an emissions test, I may buy it.

It sounds like you had quite the test drive.

Sorry, but I had to laugh about the mud thing....that had to suck.

That damn thing's got more lights and buttons on it than I know what to do with.  Doesn't help that most of the ink has come off them.  I turned the windshield wipers on and it took me five minutes to figure out how to turn them off.

On the upside, it has a bitchin' horn.  Loud as God.

The horn will come in handy the next time you run out of gas!

Signal for help.
