I am frankly shocked that he would post such a wimpy response to an injured shoulder.  I was back to work 2 days after having ankle surgery, with nothing stronger than ibuprofen after the first couple days after my surgery.  Six weeks on crutches, and I worked the entire time, though I did have people helping me file cases.  IT did give me my own personal printer for the duration as well, which was wonderful.

I suppose I underestimate his need for constant attention.

43. She said "We told the Omaha Parks and Recreation Department"

We is the Tea Party according to her letter.

Many of you may remember I lost my job in the Omaha Parks Dept. in 2006 because of budget cuts. I posted the article in the paper with my photo of me sitting on a tractor mowing. FIVE park caretakers were let go that Fall. Opening and cleaning restrooms across the city were done by caretakers especially on weekends. The parks dept. has lost over 30 full time jobs in the last decade while increasing in size from annexations etc. Where was she when there was public discussion at the city council meetings about these jobs?

I would love to see that tractor picture.  He sure likes taking his picture.

He whines more then a 4 year old. When i had to wear a neck brace after an accident on Active duty all I got were some pain meds and told to take aa weeks bed rest. They had to change the meds after that week to something else but otherwise I had that brace for another two weeks then back to regular duty as if nothing happened. One of my roomates had been in a car wreck later on and they had to wire his jaw cosed . Once that was over they did the same to him and had himout doing regular PT as if nothing happened. My Roomate couldn't stand the cold at the time from running and he said the feeling in his jaw made him drop out of the first run after they removed the wire. They kind of treated him like he was lying but how can they tell when they are not the one suffering. My point is that Steve seems to be constantly either whining about his problems or trying to get someone else to care for him. We had to just deal with it and after the docs clear us the its back to work. It sucks but thats just the way it was.

He also drinks a lot of wine.  I hope he doesn't mix that with prescription drugs.

Born 1957.

Graduated from high school 1975.

That's why this gap between his starring in Jesus Christ Superstar in high school, and his job at the Omaha waterworks, bothers me so much.  It's 30-32 years.

That's a lot longer than eighteen-and-a-half minutes.
I saw what you did there. Nice tie in to the Nixon tapes. Does your allusion include similar character defects between the two ?
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

The problem with OS is that he has surrounded himself by cyber "friends," all of which wouldn't bat an eyelash that he has spent his entire adult life scamming his employers with disability claims, ADA violations (I have to admit, I would love to know what he perceives was a violation - his employer probably asked him to actually work which he is not accustom to.  This POS should NOT be protected by the ADA, but that is another story altogether), all under the protection of the union.  The alleged "blackball" from gainful employment at 23 from a printing job?  Now that is just silly, but all of it is quite common and just another tricky day at the DU.

The good, civilized folks of Bellevue will be horrified if they were hear about his long deadbeat history of any-but-work income.   Horrified.    Steve, they deserve to know.   You proudly exclaim it amongst your 100,000 friends at the DU, time to share it with your neighbors.

Be a man for once in your dreary life.

You might recall that long-ago day last autumn when I professed horror at what my fellow Nebraskan was doing.

I suggested that if he were serious about running for public office, he'd immediately, right away, this very minute, evaporate from Skins's island, to be seen no more by the primitives, and concentrate on his real-life campaign.

And then by now, no one, not even us, would even remotely connect real-life "Steve Dawes" with Skins's island's "Omaha Steve."

But no, the big guy wouldn't listen to his fellow Nebraskan.

Not only did he announce his candidacy on Skins's island, he's hung around there since, shooting off his mouth making comments the voters of Bellevue might not find respectable, and comments the voters of Bellevue are probably going to hear.

The big guy attended a campaign management seminar run by the Sarpy County Democrats, and I'm sure the professional Democrats strongly advised him, "don't hang around with the primitives on Skins's island; it's a kiss of death."

But Omaha Steve thought he was smarter than professional Democrats.

Well, well.

My heart bleeds Cornhusker Red for my fellow Nebraskan, but what can one do?  I tried, but the big guy just wouldn't listen.

Uh oh.

The big guy's trying to feel "special" again.

Quote
I'm O positive. I have a special quality about my blood. I've never had a virus most people have by the age of twelve. I don't have the anti bodies for this virus. I don't recall the name off the top of my head. A little help here. Because of this, my blood is used for newborns, cancer patients, those with aids, and the elderly.

By coincidence franksolich's blood is O positive too.

Also it's immaculately pure, free of any vestiges of sexually-transmitted diseases or pharmaceuticals, licit or illicit, or other contaminants.

I don't recall asking what my donated blood is used for; perhaps I should inquire.

I did not know the American Deadbeat Act covered fatness.

You know, this really ticks me off, a self-imposed "disability" being considered the same as a natural disability.

As you know, I was naturally born without ears.

As you additionally know, I used to chain-smoke cigarettes, developing Brueger's condition, the same thing that afflicted the late George VI of England--my Omaha Steve "feeling special" moment here--and it's been damned crippling.

However, I don't consider the second as a disability or impairment; I consider it the consequences of voluntarily being a damned fool.  It's my own fault, and I don't consider it sporting or decent to take advantage of it in the same light my deafness is a handicap or impairment.

The big guy's "impairments" are obviously a consequence of his gluttony, over which he has control.

It pisses me off when people with self-imposed "disabilities" think they're the same as people with naturally-imposed disabilities.  And the former undoubtedly suck more at the governmental teat than the latter.

Well, they'll at least appreciate his agitating for the Cornhusker football program to corner the market on gay athletes.

That could be his winning issue.

Wow.

Steve's entire work career is a psalm of praise to unions keeping the deadbeats on the payroll. Imagine if the unions let nature take its course and lost him from the books. All of that money put out in defending him could have been put to good use in lowering healthcare costs or increasing per-hour benefits for its members. I'm sure--as with everything else in his life--he's taken about twice as much from the union as he's put in...

Even a pro-union guy should be disgusted with the work history that Steve is so proud of. No wonder why he lost the union election and caused the loss of the woman he supported after.
Let nothing trouble you,
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

I might be a bit concerned if I was the straight, center, for the team. :fuelfire:
Maybe we should ask that guy. :whatever:
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”
