Please pray for his safety
« on: March 03, 2012, 04:19:50 PM »
Tomorrow we go to visit our blind and 85 year old lady friend and her grandson Jordan, now a US Marine, and Jordan's dad and brother. He's already been to Iraq and will go to Afghanistan next week. He has an Engineering degree and chose to have his career in the USMC.

He is truly a fine person and a superb example of our younger generation.

But I have a bad feeling about this. That family has already gone through the tornadoes in southern Illinois, and as I said his grandmother is blind and not in good health. Jordan and his dad and brother now live in Indiana. We've known his grandmother and grandfather (now separated) for over 45 years, and his dad and his brother and sisters since they were infants.

Please send up a prayer for his safety over there and for his safe return to his country and to his family and friends.

Thank you.

Consider it done.

Ditto.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

He graduated from the Citadel, and his long-time lady friend is a Navy fighter pilot working off aircraft carriers.

Prayers sent for Jordan and also his lady friend pilot for their safety as they bravely serve our country.

Prayers for the rest of the family too, as it sounds like they all could use it.

Safe travels for you and Mrs. CG too.

God Bless.....

Thanks, Deb. They're only about 40 miles from here. Getting ready to leave right now.

Well, things went good with everyone (about 20 people attended), and Jordan and his girlfriend are on their way back to San Diego via Dallas. They thanked folks here for the prayers.

He'll be on his way to Afghanistan 0n 3/16 and is a USMC Captain and a communications officer. Cat just got back from 2 years' duty in Japan. I THINK she told me she flew F-16s, but don't hold me to that. And he said that he has a degree from the Citadel in Law and another in something else.

Both of them are afraid that if Obama gets back in, they'll be dismissed from their military service. (An interesting discussion followed.)

We swapped email addresses, so I hope to learn how things are going with them.

Jordan's grandmother, her son and Jordan's father Dave, and Jordan and his girlfriend Cat. (It's short for Catherine.) Cat was interviewed a while back on MSNBC, but we didn't know about that. And I erred in his blind grandmother's age; she's 78, not 85.
