I went to the doctor today

My doctor is a wonderful woman who is very progressive and provides care for the uninsured. I really admire her. We often talk politics.

So today I asked her to tell me about transvaginal sonograms. She went into a long detailed explanation about how most docs and moms really liked them better because they could see more of the baby. And her pregnant daughter had just had one and it was so awesome.

So I finally stopped her and said "well what do you think about the new law in Virginia that requires women to have a transvaginal sonogram before they can have an abortion?"

My doctor had her back turned to me and was writing on my chart when I asked her this. She stopped, turned around, looked at me and asked me to tell her that again.

Then she said that was positively one of the most disgusting things she had ever heard. And she said: "Those bastards!! This really is a war on women."

The whole thread is filled with gems:

things can cut them off in the bedroom. Stop cooking nice meals. Stop cleaning their homes. Maybe block by block. Women married to republicans can start it and other women can support them.

I'm sure that's a winning plan right there.  ::)

5. Historically, I believe the ploy you suggest has worked.

How you're going to organize Republican women to start it...you have your work cut out for you. Most of the Republican women I know, and I know very few but they are all liberal for Republicans, are just as appalled at this turn of events as we are. I'm thinking that they are trying to lose this election. They can't win without women's votes.

Democrat... I know I've had some influence on him and he tended to be thoughtful anyway.. just not to apt in politics. After listening to me forever, he's gotten the connection between bank account and political party... That was the key to turning his brain around... Now, he's more supportive of the President than my flamingly impatient liberal pinkie commie ass is... LOL.

There's the conversion! Where are the cops in the bushes?

I give it no bongs. I expect better from these people.

You go on and try that, there will be another woman who agrees with him waiting for him right around the corner.

Liberal women:  "keep the government out of my vagina".  Unless you want to give me free birth control, free abortifacients, free sterilization, and taxpayer subsidized abortions.

.. and SOOOOOOOOO dangerous.    You should only have one very early in the pregnancy, or later in the pregnancy if  you need to determine how effaced the cervix is.

No reputable OB/GYN will recommend one because "moms really liked them."    :whatever:

Isn't this the manipulative, the-only-power-I've-got-is-between-my-legs sort of thinking and behavior of pre 1960?  Isn't a woman smart and capable enough to argue a case on its own merits in front of a man?  I guess you don't think so, SYB.

You go ahead and have a roach-filled house, feed the kids Chef Boyardee, and wear your crown of thorns to bed.  I'll do something else.

Zero bongs, story didn't start with so, no cops, it did however some what relate to "bush", no conversions, and no applause.  Overall I say it is pure  :bs:

I expect to be slapped for the bush reference, but I call it like I see it, and make no apologies for it.

hmmmm...they neglected to mention that ultrasounds are already a standard practice at Planned Parenthood.

Quote
The Virginia League for Planned Parenthood didn’t immediately return calls yesterday. But here’s what it said on the recording for its abortion services information hotline:

“Patients who have a surgical abortion generally come in for two appointments. At the first visit we do a health assessment, perform all the necessary lab work, and do an ultrasound. This visit generally takes about an hour. At the second visit, the procedure takes place. This visit takes about an hour as well. For out of town patients for whom it would be difficult to make two trips to our office, we’re able to schedule both the initial appointment and the procedure on the same day.

Medical abortions generally require three visits. At the first visit, we do a health assessment, perform all the necessary lab work, and do an ultrasound. This visit takes about an hour. At the second visit, the physician gives the first pill and directions for taking two more pills at home. The third visit is required during which you will have an exam and another ultrasound.”

http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2012/02/21/ultrasounds-va-planned-parenthood-abortion-procedure/#.T0P3GibPM-N.twitter

It goes on to say that ultrasounds are necessary to determine the age of the fetus as well as other reasons.

This is from the Planned Parenthood website...

http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/abortion/in-clinic-abortion-procedures-4359.asp

Quote
It’s common for women to be nervous about having an abortion — or any other medical procedure. But most of us feel better if we know what to expect. Your health care provider will talk with you and answer your questions. But here’s a general idea of how it works and what to expect.

Before the abortion procedure, you will need to

discuss your options
talk about your medical history
have laboratory tests
have a physical exam — which may include an ultrasound
read and sign papers

The site then goes on to detail what happens during the actual abortion...WAY more "invasive" than a transvaginal ultrasound...

The surest bet on earth is something is full of FAIL when the DUchebags start making up bouncies.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Oh I think woman should be forced to look at their baby trying to survive when she's having the baby aborted.

This is more of the Die alte Sau's bullshit.

She makes up stories to match what's in the news of the day.

Perhaps she had an appointment with a physician, but the conversation never took place; the wretched old bitch just made it up.

That's a constant consistent long-term pattern of her behavior.

Wow...this is an excerpt of the actual Virginia law. It does NOT mention transvaginal ultrasounds...nor does it FORCE the woman to look at the picture.

I don't understand. After seeing this, they then proceed with an abortion.

Their argument of the baby being just a clump of cells becomes meaningless and without merit.

I declare that DUmmies are just a clump of DUmb cells....can I abort them now?
