Yeah, I'm sure they'll have a high old time, pointing at the freaks and laughing.  I'm with Odin's Hand on this one, I can't imagine why anyone would (A) willingly subject themselves and their kids to the resulting ridicule, and (B) show their cards.

Anybody end up watching this?  I'm usually at a meeting on Tuesday nights and couldn't catch it.

So, pink short-shorts and red shoe laces are the new camoflauge?

That's it, I'm out of the survivalist movement.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

That's the intent of the show, I'd bet.  to give people who are ready to bug out a bad rap.

Just looking at a 20-second trailer gave me that impression. They focused on people with bad teeth, who are overweight, and they edited the tape to make these folks look like complete tools.

I think I caught a few minutes of it last night. It's the one where they "score" their survival ability?

Ya, the one gal, I don't think she's got enough rations packed.........................if ya know what I mean......

I never saw the show -- only the 30-second trailer. The impression I had was the the producers were trying to illustrate these doomsday preppers as ----->   :loser:

WTSHTF, we'll see who the REAL  :loser: 's are.

I never could understand why some people count their money in public.

There is no way these idiots can survive a disaster if everyone around them knows how much of what ever they have that they will not SHARE with strangers.    I have seen sites where people are proud to show any and all weapons and a basement with enough ammo to start a small war.   Rooms full of enough dried food to feed an army for 3 days, all photographed and proudly displayed to the frigging public.

Truth be told one seldom hears a Mormon speak of the years stash of food for each family member or the self protective devices they have hidden away.    They have a shelter buried in the back yard,  they are not inviting the general public for a guided tour.

The REAL preppers, not those playing some kind of game of lets pretend are the folks one would least suspect, AND they have no thought of a bug out, they intend to stay put as long as they can.   Survival is a secret not something to play with, this is not the game of Capture the Flag or Cowboys and Indians.

The only thing worth while in a survival kit to bug out is perhaps a first aid kit, a whistle and a gun.  This is for the youth, few people over 50 years old want to run for the hills with a 75 pound back pack and 70 year old grand dad huffing and puffing trying to keep up.   What, people are going to run with 3-4 little kids in tow, 2 cats a dog and the canary in its cage???

Old timers in the North East have allways had emergency food on hand, never know when a storm will hit.  Most homes in my area had places for home canned foods, and emergency heat source when I was growing up.

What fun to watch the going ons at the grocery store before a big blow is expected.   People going nuts buying perishable food, and never a thought that without electricity this stuff will become useless in 24 hours. Some times toilet paper is more valuable then moldy bread.

Stupid to count your money as your sitting at the table, tell no one what your stake in the game is, don't even tell your kids what you have up your sleeve, Kids talk you know.

Real preppers know that it is suicide to try to drive a car or truck on the highways, dangerous every day to do so, imagine in a disaster, takes about 10 minutes before pile ups come about, Mom remembers being a kid when The War of the Worlds came on the radio and neighbors who thought it was real piling mattresses on the tops of cars and found it impossible to get out of their own driveways, people went NUTS.

Preppers can live in a fantasy world, or hunker down and no one is the wiser.

It was reported elsewhere how much editing was done, and a producer supposedly offering cash to say certain things, to help with the editing...  Pretty disappointing.

I caught the first episode last night, wasn't to impressed for a number of reasons.

It's just trash TV on the same order as "Pawn Stars" and "Operation Repo". Custom made to appeal to the same audience that watches Springer and Maury.

Anyone thinking that this show is indicative of what serious survivalists are like , well I've got some prime beach-front land to sell you just outside Alice Springs.
