"Here I Am."
« on: January 18, 2012, 08:33:47 AM »
Every now and then the Lord says "Here I Am" in a way that I can't deny.

This morning, I was looking at a possible $500+ car repair bill.  All indications -- dash lights, an unusual high-pitched whine -- were that my alternator had failed.

I took it to the local mechanic I use for small routine jobs; he put a gauge on the battery and said the alternator was working fine -- producing 14.4 volts.  He was stumped by the lights and so on.

When Keith gets stumped, I go to the dealership.

Three-quarters of a mile down the road, I prayed -- not for the first time this morning, but this time whithout a request -- just "Lord, whatever You will do, in Your mercy --"

I looked down at the dash, and all the lights were out.  I turned off the heater to hear the engine -- no whine.

Now, the mechanically inclined among you may be sure that there is a reasonable explanation for this -- a computer glitch, a piece of ice stuck somewhere and then falling out, or whatever.

I believe I heard God say -- not in voice, but in events -- "Here I Am."
