During the call Chávez said that medical tests showed no sign of any “malignant” illness.

But according to the report in El Nuevo Herald, Chávez finds himself in “critical condition, not grave, but critical, in a complicated situation.”

When a Communist leader dies, the public generally isn't informed until a few days or weeks later.
This is so the party members can consolidate power, prop up leaders and get ready in advance to put down the celebrations of the people.

So we may not now that Hugo dies in agony until a week or more, and the exact date may never be certain.

I'm still not seeing confirmation of it from a reliable source (Drudge, freerepublic, Fox).

Of course, no one's been denying it either.
