I tend to like classic and/or campy SF and war/adventure/historical movies, here's a few I can watch again and again:

Zulu
When Worlds Collide
Kelly's Heroes
Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai
The Horse Soldiers
Excalibur
Last of the Mohicans
Fellowship of the Ring
Go and tell the Spartans, O traveler passing by
That here, obedient to their law, we lie.

Anything worth shooting once is worth shooting at least twice.

Zulu is an awesome classic war movie. The ending with the two sides singing back and forth before the final battle is the perfect device to ramp up the tension.

I put in a bid for Network. One million internet bux to anyone who can tell me what the movie is about.

Watched Mr. & Mrs. Smith last night. Pretty good.

A bored married couple is surprised to learn that they are both assassins hired by competing agencies to kill each other.

Just watched a documentary film called Generation Zero.

“Generation Zero” was written and directed by awarding-winning director, Stephen K. Bannon (“In the Face of Evil: Reagan’s War in Word and Deed,” “Titus“). In addition Mr. Bannon and Alan Peterson (Hilary The Movie, Hype: The Obama Effect) acted as producers.

“This film is about a crisis – one that is as profound as The Revolution, The Civil War, or The Great Depression and WWII,” says Bannon. “The title ‘Generation Zero’ is ironic, as it refers to both the Baby Boomers and the generation born today: the one generation whose greed and fiscal mismanagement has destroyed the financial legacy and inheritance of the other.”

======================================

A nice film from a conservative perspective. Said to have helped kick off the tea party.

National Tea Party Convention to Present a Special Screening: ‘Generation Zero’ — The Truth About the Financial Meltdown

">>> Andrew Breitbart will provide introductory remarks concerning the film. Breitbart will also be introducing keynote speaker, Gov. Sarah Palin the following evening. >>>"

This same producer is coming out with another film "The Undefeated" to Document Gov. Palin's Record in IA Debut.

"A full-length feature film, The Undefeated documents Governor Palin's record and answers questions about her resignation that continue to perturb some potential supporters, Scott Conroy, Real Clear Politics reported tonight. The project commenced over six months ago when Gov. Palin approached Rebecca Mansour, a close aide of hers with the directive to request Stephen K. Bannon, a conservative film maker produce a video series. Bannon agreed on one condition: that it be a full-length feature movie and that he finance the $1 million cost." MORE

I just watched Manufacturing Dissent, one of the slew of Michael Moore and Me movies that came out a few years ago. It was pretty good but not as good as Team America.

Also watched another recently called 2010 Economic Crisis that was pretty good. About 1:48 long.

This week, I watched Fat Head, Dalekmania, and Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation!

Fat Head was very good and I recommend it to anybody.  Dalekmania is only for Doctor Who fans and NQH is only for people who love exploitation movies and can put up with Quentin Tarantino making comments that don't really add anything to the discussion.

If you are looking for a good example of Ozploitation outside of Mad Max, I recommend Razorback.

I had never heard of Dalekmania.  I did find while googling it, that there is a 1965 movie called Dr. Who and the Daleks starring Peter Cushing available online for free. http://www.imdb.com/video/hulu/vi4137682713/

Cool. I've wanted to see the two Peter Cushing movies for a while. Saw them both a couple of times when I was a kid before I had ever heard of The Doctor.

I forgot about this topic! Loots of good suggestions though:) I'll have to search some up and watch. I've got a bit more time right now and I'm getting board.

The only movie I've watched recently was an odd but very good German one I stumbled upon when on IMDB one day.

Looks interesting, I started on a German documentary on the Nazis and art last night but it was late and I wasn't in the mood for subtitles. Looked very promising, though.

I watched an Irish movie the other week called Intermission staring Colm Meany that was pretty good.

I loved that movie. I even went to the theater to see it. Of course the gf thought it was "meh". My only complaint was there ALWAYS has to be at least ONE tough hispanic chick in movies like that now. I guess we could thank Aliens for that.

She did how ever love Inception. OMG that was almost 3 hours and my ass is still numb from that borefest. She thinks I didn't get it but I got it. The Scrooge McDuck comic they ripped the plot from was more entertaining.

MTSU is hosting a John Adams display of papers and artifacts until September 30.  I need to stop by and take a look.  Maybe I can get some pictures.
