curious

It's a slow day, giving one the chance to think about everything under the sun, and so I'm wondering about something.

I've heard that there's computers for the blind or otherwise visually impaired, that "talk" what's on the screen.

How, exactly, does that work, with for example conservativecave?

If it "talks," does it use a different sort of voice for each poster?

I'm trying to get this into my head, but it won't fit.

No, you get to pick a single voice and everything is read aloud. You can adjust speed and pitch but it's very primitive.

Thanks, sir.

Okay now, someone turns on the computer and goes to the internet, where the Drudge Report is the "home page."

That "voice" reads every item, every single item, on that page?

That's the idea, but I've never been able to get it to work correctly.
