Those EBT cards do another wonderful thing, MAKE ALL FOOD MORE EXPENSIVE. So not only do I get to pay for their freeloading ass but the increased demand makes the food I buy more expensive.

If I were in charge it would be 50 pound bags of rice, beans, flour and wheels of cheese. Want to eat what working people buy for themselves, get a job.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Here's what we do. We knock all the people that absolutely need foodstamps off the rolls...take away their foodstamp cards. We allow the fraudsters to keep their. The we use the foodstamp card holders like people around do. We give the fraudsters a grocery list and they go in the store and buy what's on the list. When they come out with the food, we buy it at half price or less and give it to the people that absolutely need it. We just cut the foodstamp program cost in half.

Well at least i am trying to use my initiative to help all and defraud the scammers!! So no it is not a fail...This was an idea to help those who are really struggling, and doing their very best to provide for their families(including the elderly who rely on ss, the military) rather than those who abuse, and fraud the system. I am sick of paying for those who refuse to help themselves and expect the government to provide everything for them.
Thanks to W and that mean old Republican congress there are less military families that have to rely on food stamps now.

I am glad for that!! After all the military do for us to keep us safe, they should be more appreciated.

It was just a thought...We would do away with ebt cards all together!! All income levels could use the kiosks. People would get "rewarded"(if you will) for eating healthy. You can buy your hohos if you want, just don't expect to get reimbursed for it!!

Rewarded for eating healthy?  Reimbursed?

Just sounds like a "fancy" government program.

Welfare families used their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) debit cards to squander $191,000 on a host of non-essentials, according to records obtained by the Herald, including:

• $175,000 on liquor stores, including a $102 tab at a Dracut bar;

• $827 at Victoria’s Secret stores across the state, including $208 at a Hyannis outlet;

• $644 at beauty supply stores, salons, and even a tanning booth in Fall River.

• $664 at PETCOs and other pet supply stores; $127 on jewelry stores; $3,427 at AT&T mobile phone stores; and about $100 at Chuck E. Cheese.

“This is a system that’s leaking like a sieve. I expect to see grocery stores. I expect to see pharmacies. When you see spending on something like Chuck E. Cheese it gets ridiculous,” said House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones (R-North Reading).

Why are the EBT cards even accepted at Victoria's Secret, bars, liquor stores, etc?

Because EBT cards have a cash option, it gets swipe like a debit/atm card then atm machine will prompt food or cash? and people press cash, and it goes out of the cash stash like an atm transaction

or they will dual tenders with the same card. the food option on food, then swipe again and do rest of transaction on cash.

When my Dad got sick we struggled and basically we loaded up for the month on cheap chicken legs, pasta, sauce and cereal and that was it, a few dollars were kept aside for milk and bread. Was it fun? no, but you did what you had to do and didn't rely on the Government.

When I was growing up we were pretty darn poor.  Dad was a low ranking AF sergeant (E5).  He kept pissing his superiors off and getting demoted for fighting. :-)  Busted 3 times.  He had quite a temper, but I like to think it was that belligerence that got him through a year of 'Nam, including the fire fighs.  Anyway, we were poor and qualified for food stamps and the free school lunch program...we didn't take any of that and I can still remember wishing I was sitting down to a nice hot lunch instead of a pb&j, apple and cookie, or whatever Mom had packed.  When Dad retired he struggled with shitty paying jobs for years and we actually went hungry to bed for awhile.  Still, no accepting food stamps.  Thank God I got scholarships for college, and by then Mom was working after being a housewife for years, so as I was getting myself an education they were getting on their feet.

I don't knock anyone for food stamps, and I can see using them at PETCO for pet food.  Our furbabies gotta eat too!  But, the rest of that shit.  **** 'em, they need to be cut off from taxpayer money if that's how they're gonna spend it.

Don't forget, not that long ago California was allowing their EBT cards to be used in casinos and even out of state.

I love chicken, but I can't eat chicken legs, we ate them so darn much for those couple of years that I can't stomach them. I don't want to see anyone hungry and we choose to help keep our town pantry stocked and donate to other food drives, and I can't tell anymore who's on food stamps because they have the debit card, but I never see someone in the store who's disheveled looking, and I have no doubt people receive food stamps even though they're probably working under the table. It's the fraud that ticks me off.

You need to go to the local Walmart/24 hour grocery store at 15 minutes after midnight until about 3:00AM on the first of the month.

Tell you what, DUmmie-random letters, I will go to Walmart on March 1 with a camcorder.  I can get into almost any line and see families with two or three carts worth of SHIT.  I'm not even going to say junk.  It's pure shit in their cart.  I've been behind many families who had one cart full of chips, soda, cookies, ho-ho's, ding-dongs, and candy.  Their other cart might have a few things like milk, eggs, cereal, and fruits/vegetables, etc.  Maybe some diapers and wipes if they had little ones.  I have NO problem with people who need help.  But don't buy junk food, cigarettes, and alcohol with CASH and then pull out your EBT card for all the WIC approved items.  Of course it disgusts people.

Exactly!

A lady where I work has a part time (30 hrs a week) job as a walmart cashier. She uses the money to put her son thru college. She has told me some stories about the welfare parasites. She said she can always tell the folks that have hit a bad stretch because they always seem really embarassed when they hand over the food stamp debit card and they always have generic stuff and stuff on sale. She said those people are about 10 percent of the food stamp cards that come thru her line and she always offers them encouragement. Their kids are usually clean and well mannered and there are no cell phones, etc. The other 90 percent will have multiple cards and then pull out beer, etc, and pay for it in cash. They are always rude and their kids are usually dirty. Oh and they usually have cell phones and are talking on them at the time.

Now who am I going to believe... the libs or my coworkers lying eyes? Hell I saw it myself the other day down at the grocery store. This lady handed the cashier her welfare card, it was out of funds so she handed her another card and when that one was out of fund she handed her a 3rd one! Apparently it had funds. So now who am I going to believe... the libs or my lying eyes?

Pisses me off.

Oh and one other thing... she said the non parasites always seem to know exactly how much they have on their card and very, very rarely have to put something back and if they do it is usually because the have miscalculated by about 20 cents or so.
