I just got my '65 Thunderbird Saturday!   :yahoo:  Got a sweet deal from my late brother's friend.  And I pick up his (my brother's) '70 Cougar next Monday.

Pictures of the Thunderchicken, please.  :-)

Very nice, Alpha.  I'm partial to the '61 and '65 models.   :cheersmate:

Sweet.  I love that formal roofline.

Still looking for a '63-'64 Fairlane.  I have my eye on one but I need to unload a Honda Accord first.

edity edit: I want a '63 but I will settle for a '64.  Number of doors are irrelevant.

If I had my way it'd be a 67 'Vette.

I almost bought a 63 Galaxie fastback as my second car.

What is your opinion on the station wagon? My father had one, a long time ago, with a 429 and four speed.

Never driven one, but I don't like the look.  All that extra sheetmetal at the back kills the rest of the car.

Here's one for sale nearby: http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/3788673292.html

Overplayed, stale, and uninteresting, and you're paying the Corvette premium on top of looking like everyone else.  Every car show has at least a dozen of them, maybe more.  I suppose you're also one of those hicks that deride four-doors as "two too many".

Yeah, they don't have the same appeal as a fastback might, but I have a soft spot for wagons.  :-)

I don't care for fastbacks either... rear visibility is nil. :(

Like I said, I prefer the formal roofline.

I knew there was one of these in the neighborhood.  I saw it one other time from a few blocks away... I got a better look today.

Other than the 5-mph crash bumpers and Pinto chassis, I want to like it.

I've only sat in one fastback Fairlane, and I didn't think it was that bad.  Then again, I wasn't driving it out on the road either, so I'm sure my perception might change if I did.

Do you like the 60s Sedan DeVilles?

My sister had TWO of those, one that looked exactly like that, a cream puff with 50K miles on it she bought from the first owner old lady ($800), and a white one.

Trust me, you don't want to like it.  Terrible, horrible, awful.

What killed the fastback for me was test-driving a '76 Duster.  I couldn't see a damn thing.  Tiny side mirrors, no rear or side visibility.  Damn.

No, I don't care for the DeVille, because the Impala and even the Chevrolet pickup cribbed the nose design a few years later and it's everywhere you look now.  Check out the 1968 Impala... same nose.

One thing that makes me laugh is the origin of the Cadillac Seville.  It's a tarted-up Camaro/Nova, but it makes for an interesting story.

Oh, I don't know... I can see the similarities, but I don't think of it in the same lines as say a ChrBentley or the Aston Taurus.  I do know I wouldn't have a 68 Impala though- too vanillla.

I had a friend with a '68 Impala coupe his grandfather left him.  That thing was a boat.

He traded it for a mid-Seventies Monte Carlo.

I'm not sure who got the worse end of the deal there. Ouch.

Wonderful opinions you're expressing. [*shrugs*] I just happen to like the 'Vette. Does that mean I'd actually plunk down the $70K to buy one of these? NFW. Well, maybe if I won the lottery!

As to two/four doors, I say, buy as many doors as you like! My vehicle has FIVE doors! So whaddya think about them apples?  :-)
