I find it amusing people complain about anything less then 4 dollars a gallon. I haven't seen gas that cheap in years. This is the reason I won't own a large car/suv or even think about getting a truck. The record gas price here was 6.26  (1.65/L) if I remember right.

Regular here is 4.64 (1.23/L)
Premium is 4.91 (1.30/L)
And Diesel is 4.72 (1.25/L)

I'd love gas that cost under 4 dollars, consider yourselves lucky.

Yeah, but that's the imperial gallon isn't it?...larger than the US gallon.

Nope, I used the US gallon to convert that.

1 US gallon = 3.78 Liters is how I did it.

So, you're paying a $1.50 per gallon more for gas than I do....and Canada sells the U.S. 9 million barrels of oil per day at ...say $80 a barrel which would = $720,000,000.00 a day...quite a haul there. ...and you're riding around in a small car that you're more likely to get killed in....but you get free healthcare...don't sound very free to me or very good deal for your money.

Went to work this morning...gas was 3.199 a gallon.  Came home, it was 3.279 a gallon.

Oh, and heating oil (cash price) is now 3.429 a gallon.

Way to look out for us "little people", Odumbo.

$3.07 for 100% gas/ 87 octane here.
Good point, here we can't get 100% gas without a lot of shopping around. 10% Ethanol in most gas here now with the state allowing an increase to 15% soon but I don't know when that goes into effect.

They say 10% but a $5 test kit from an auto parts store will show the truth of it, up to 18%.

$3.51 for regular today in Western New York, usually 20 cents less on the Indian reservations here.

I live by a gas station that is always one of the cheapest in the area.  This past weekend, I believe regular was running about 3.00 even.  Last night, it was 3.18.  It claims it is 10% ethanol.

I try to fill up closer to home, $3.25 a gallon vs $3.35 near work, but then again Falmouth is full of rich people

If America would eliminate restrictions for gasoline extraction, refinement, and production, we could:

1. End the "energy crisis."
2. Force the Arab world to establish market economy practices.
3. Save trillions of dollars from going overseas, adding to the ability to invest in new technologies.
4. Render Venezuela, Iran, and North Korea obsolete from a bargaining standpoint.
5. Save billions in national defense costs.

It's really that simple. There is only one impediment.

The current Democratic Party.
And the GOP from 2001 until 2007 when they held all 3 houses.

The blame falls squarely on Obama. One for the drilling ban in the GOM. They still aren't drilling even though the ban has been lifted because of the new requirements. Two for threatening to take away tax breaks for the oil companies because they make too much money. This is just a taste of what will happen if the later happens. Who will pay for the loss of 65 billion a year if it does? We will, and god forbid if the current turmoil in the mideast hits Saudi where 80% of our oil comes from.

Hate to tell ya, noob, but you need to get your facts straight.

Canada is 1st, followed by Mexico, THEN Saudi Arabia (at about 13 percent of our FOREIGN oil).  We still produce about 40 percent of what we consume, so 13 percent of 60 percent is closer to about 8 percent of our total consumption.

If this keeps up, plan on $4 nationally by sometime in April.  Current national average is $3.375, and ALL states are above $3/gallon retail (Montana is lowest at $3.065.)  NH is at $3.305.  While Hawaii is the most expensive, California is only 2 cents behind at $3.766/gallon.

Note the wholesale price and the jump in January, which didn't translate (at the time) to retail prices.  Gasoline futures for April delivery are currently at $2.82 a gallon.  A week ago it was $2.67.  Home heating oil futures (wholesale) are at $2.95 a gallon.  This translates to gas prices in the $3.75 range, MINIMUM, unless futures prices drop back to the $2.60-2.65 level.

We are so, so, SO screwed.

What truly, truly amazes me is the level of apathy from your every-day joe.  No one seems to even see this happening.  And very few people have made the correlation between gas prices and the price of goods sold.   :thatsright:  Oh well, I suppose it is a great Darwin experiment.  On an related/unrelated note:  In November I was able to purchase a 5lb bag of sugar for .79, and a 5 lb bag of flour for .49 at my local Aldi.  Last weekend they were 1.89 and 1.79, respectively.
