Anyone ever hire a professional painter?
« on: March 31, 2008, 04:48:04 PM »
I have several rooms I want repainted and my husband is being an ass and doesn't want to help me paint them.  My husband told me to just have someone else come out and do it.  I have no idea how much they charge.  Can anyone who has had someone repaint the inside of their home tell me approximately how much it costs to have a professional do it?  I'm having someone come out wednesday to give me an estimate but they are 3 1/2 weeks out on their paint jobs and if I know that it will be super expensive I can cancel their trip out here and just tell my husband it will be a bunch of money and he has to help me paint.   :innocent:

We JUST had the upstairs of our home repainted, walls and ceilings.

Just about $2,200.

Your whole upstairs?  Approx how many sq feet is that?

Holy smokes asdf, you have more kitchen magnets than me... I didn't think that was possible.  :lmao:

BEG, I can ask my husband what he charges, then you can do x3 to get what you would pay someone else.

Welll....I have gotten estimates only for the trim in our house to be painted, not the walls...I got my husband to do the walls before we moved the furniture into our house (but couldn't get him to do the trim  :whatever:).

The downstairs was $1k, the upstairs is a little over $2k...so, $3k in all just to do the trim....and before I hear from the peanut gallery, "THREE K just for the TRIM? Are YOU nuts???" No, I'm not...that is the standard price around here, because I ended up getting 5 estimates from 5 completely different people (one was a contractor...one just did paint...etc., etc.)

And our house isn't *that* big, either, about 2600 square feet or so.

We had the whole interior repainted last summer, around 3000 sq feet.
Only cost $1500, but we had to buy the paint, and it wasn't cheap, I think it was another 300 bucks or so.

But, it was "top of the line" washable latex paint.  Don't scrimp on paint, get the very best you can afford.

Agreed :-*

Funny you should mention this.  I am painting my kitchen in between checking in here.  I've been painting off and on for the last two weeks.

To answer your question, the last time I paid someone to paint it cost me $2000.00.  He wasn't a "painter" per se.  He was a "handy man".  He did a good job, and I was glad it was done, but when he was through I couldn't help but feel a bit foolish because I didn't do it myself.

Since we are talking about painting  :p, I'm posting a pic of a painting that my husband's cousin painted.  We bought it from him and received it last week.

I like it.  It reminds me of an ad for a dry skin remedy.  :)

There is a water ring on your table, BEG.
Don't you have any coasters?

There has never been a glass of water on that table.   :p
