Poll : Angle Leads Reid 49-46
« on: October 05, 2010, 08:19:56 AM »
this could be her breakout;  with less than 30 days to go, people are going to start making up their minds.  and she is flirting with the all-important 50% mark.

harry reid's multimillion dollar hate-bombing ad campaign has knocked her numbers down, but apparently he didn't kill her.

Quote
Reid on the Ropes in Nevada

Republican Sharron Angle seems to be solidifying her support in her bid to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada.

In the latest Fox News battleground state poll of likely voters, Angle drew 49 percent to Reid’s 46 percent. As voters make up their mind with four weeks to go until Election Day, Angle seems to have the edge.

In the first Fox battleground poll in the Silver State four weeks ago, 10 percent of respondents were either unsure, in favor of a minor party candidate or, as state law allows in Nevada, planning to vote for "none of these candidates."

In this week's poll, those three categories add up to 5 percent. Over the same period, Angle’s overall vote percentage went from 45 percent to 49 percent.

Democratic strategists hope to prevent an Angle win by driving up her unfavorable ratings and pushing voters to choose a minor party candidate or “none of these.” Angle was viewed unfavorable by 53 percent in the survey. But Reid was viewed unfavorably by 55 percent.

Angle’s supporters are growing more certain of their support, too. Two weeks ago, 10 percent of Angle supporters said they could still change their minds. That number has dropped to 4 percent.

While Angle's lead is still within the poll’s 3-point margin of error, this is the first Fox battleground poll in Nevada to show a difference of more than 1 point.

the more I mull this over, the more I think it may be the beginning of the end for reid;  adorning the senate with a huge tax increase hanging over every american had to have some sort of an impact on what supporters he had left.

maybe this is it, or at least the beginning of it.

I would hope that EVERY GOP candidate has hammered home the fact that the expiration of the Bush tax cuts which the Dems are NOT about to extend for ANYBODY, no matter what bullshit they say, IS in fact a tax increase on everyone.

And starting in 2012, use Obama's tax pledge from 2008 like the liberals used G. H. W. Bush's, "Read my lips!" comment.

. . .and trying to sneak the DREAM act through probably isn't helping him much, either.

Two things make this noteworthy to me. The first is that Reid is the Senate Majority leader and as such wields quite a bit of power, yet the voters seem willing to give up that power for their own state, because they find his  policies so disagreeable.  The second thing is that this could be the second Demonrat Senate Majority leader to lose their seat.

Harry Reid has ruined Las Vegas and Nevada.  This guy takes no responsibility for anything, much like Obama.  There are some dummies in this state who believe we NEED Reid to save us, but come on now, people!  If he hasn't done anything yet, what do you expect to change?  One of our neighbor's has a bumper sticker that says, "Angle, just too extreme"  I have to giggle at it every time I walk past it.

CNN/Time has it angle up 42-40, with 7% supporting ashjian, and 10% responding "none of the above".  and that's a potential problem, because in nevada, "none of the above" is actually on the ballot.  those are the largest numbers by far that I have seen for ashjian and none of the above . . . something about this sample smells.

ashjian pulling 7% is yet another cause for concern if you assume that every vote for him is an anti-reid vote that would otherwise be going to sharron angle.

the vote in vegas and clark county was as crooked as a corkscrew in 2008.  if whatever is left of ACORN manages to turn out as many  convicts, dead people, and fictional characters as they did for obama, angle is going to need a good 5-7 point margin to actually be named the winner.

Quote
According to a CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Wednesday, 42 percent of likely voters in Nevada are backing Angle, who enjoys strong support from many in the Tea Party movement, with four in ten supporting Reid, the top Democrat in the Senate who's bidding for a fifth term in the chamber. Seven percent of people questioned are supporting Scott Ashjian, who is running as a Tea Party candidate, but who is shunned by many in the grassroots conservative moment, and 10 percent say they are voting for none of the candidates listed.

Ashjian, really?

He's not even a viable candidate.  He ran on the "Tea Party" ticket.  He's a Reid plant.  Why is anyone paying any attention to him?

I'll have a frowny face voting for McCain, but at least he isn't a Democrat.  Sorta.
At least I get to vote for Jesse Kelly over Gabby Giffords.  NOW she tries to tout her border concerns. :loser:She's concerned all right, concerned her amigos might not get to the voting booths in time to help her out this fall.  Arizona does have stringent voter id requirements, but that doesn't do much good when these illegals beg, borrow, steal or buy false id's. :argh:

I know.  he created his own "tea party" (or someone *cough*cough*reidcampaign*cough* created it for him), and made himself the nominee.

as I said, this poll seems a bit confused in that it has NOTA at 10%, and ashjian at 7%, even though he didn't even register in a rasmussen poll last week.

I found the text of the poll, but can't haven't found the crosstabs yet.  but at least that much smells.

by the way, having a CCer "on the ground" (so to speak) in nevada is a stroke of good fortune.  this is a huge, huge race, of course.  I am sure everyone (I certainly would, at any rate) would be interested in reading your observations undiluted by the MSM.  not sure if you live in a reid strong hold or not.  I expect the worms and woolly critters to start to come out of the woodwork any day now.

I live right in the heart of Las Vegas.  I will be taking my camcorder to the polling place with me.  Just in case there is anyone trying to play games out there.  We vote at an elementary school a block away from us.  We will end up just walking there.

I do see more Angle signs than Reid though.  That has to be a good sign.

she is indeed breaking out against reid.  rasmussen, the gold standard of opinion polls, has her at up 4 at 50-46.  hitting the 50% mark is a big, big deal, since the phony tea party candidate is irrelevant as soon as she hits 50% + 1 vote.  it took some time, but it appears that she has managed to assure the voters that she isn't the freak that the reid campaign tried to make her out to be.

she has the lead, and she has the momentum.  barring an october surprise (such as gloria allred calling a press conference in las vegas next week), I think harry may be toast.

time appears to be crucial element for the tea party nominees that the MSM and democrats are trying to paint as "extreme".  given time, our nominees are able to prove that it's all a big lie, and they aren't freaks or fanatics.  I just hope christine o'donnell has enough time to accomplish what sharron angle appears to have pulled off.

Nevada Senate: Angle (R) Edges Ahead of Reid (D)

Republican challenger Sharron Angle has now moved to a four-point lead over Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada’s bare-knuckles U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Nevada Voters shows Angle hitting the 50% mark for the first time since mid-August, while Reid earns 46% of the vote. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and two percent (2%) more are undecided.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Harry do the duffel bag drag. His pathetic "the war is lost" comment is still ringing in my ears, and should be ringing in the ears of every Nevadan who is itching to vote that bastard out of office.

I've got an idea that there is an angle campaign commercial that features his "the war is lost" comment that they are saving for the last week or so before the election.  it would be devastating.

or perhaps they have already fired that salvo.  Evil_Conservative could tell us.

More than likely, yes, but not on my side of town.

I'd have to put my money on the "east" side.  Those people are f-ing crazy over there.  We lived on that side of town for three months and had to move immediately because we were too "rich" for that side of town.

This certainly can't help Harry Reid.

Rory Reid: Healthcare reform could end up hurting Nevada

Gubernatorial candidate Rory Reid (D) said Thursday that the new health reform law could hurt Nevada.

During a televised debate, Rory Reid, the son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), said he does not support the legal challenges against the health overhaul. Yet, he does believe that President Obama’s signature achievement could negatively affect Nevada.

“I don’t deny, however,” Rory Reid said, “that Nevada needs to be vigilant on this issue. The law that was passed gives time for the new system to go into effect, but there is potential for it to put significant pressure on states because Medicaid rates could go up significantly.”

Yes she has.

It was one of her first couple of TV ads.  She's more focused on the illegal immigration thing, calling Reid "the best friend an illegal could ever have".  She has also used the "We only lost 36,000 jobs this month and that's really really good." line for Reid as well.
