I realize this may not be the typical post found in this forum, but I'd invite everyone to visit my new blog, Things I Shouldn't Have to Tell You, at thingsishouldnthavetotellyou.blogspot.com. It's written from a liberal progressive point of view, and I welcome your thoughts and comments.

Best,

John

The GOP initially proposed individual mandates in order to avoid harming the private sector, which they felt would be irreparably damaged if employers had to assume greater financial burdens regarding their employee's health insurance.

Hey greenman .... this is from your blog.  You later go on to say;

Quote
So what does all this have to do with my experience braving the dark and fetid interior of the Conservative Cave? Just this. Republicans/Conservatives aren't interested in a real discussion of issues, their only concern is in ramming their close-minded, bigoted views down the throats of the American public.

Please ... come enlighten me.  I think I'm on the fence here and could be persuaded.  For instance, in the quote above you talk about the financial burdens of the employers.  Would you be so kind as to come enlighten me as to how that works?

I have employees .... can you tell me how I am to assume a greater financial burden?

Thanks in advance for your intelligent response.

Hey n00b...please tell me that you were looking in the mirror when you called us close minded.

If you make the references you do about Rush, Boehner, Cantor etc you've learned NOTHING about what it means to be a Conservative.

I am a conservative - and have never listened to Rush , have no idea who the others are .

Don't even get Rush on any station that I'm aware of way down here.

You seem to think that all people who identify as conservative listen too American Talk Radio and somehow derive their beliefs from it , really?

Who's the bigot now.

Either you're an analyst of exceptional caliber, or you're (once again) talking out your ass.  I'm guessing the latter would be closer to the mark.

Texacon: It means that in 1993, when discussing health care, Republicans felt that, faced with rising costs, passing increased premiums on to employers would harm the private sector. They therefore proposed a plan of individual mandates, in which individuals would assume increased responsibility for insurance premiums.

During the last health care debate, Democrats said, "We think you're right about individual mandates." It was at that moment that Republicans instantly reversed their previous position, taking a stance of "No We Can't," even on a platform they had previously supported. As they've consistently shown since then, they're unwilling to go along with Dems on any issue, even issues that they previously supported, as they continue to pursue an agenda of "Fail at any cost" where the President is concerned.

At what cost to the US taxpayer should complete medical care be granted to ALL?? You progressives never cease to amaze me. Y'all don't give a **** about what the REAL cost is or where the money comes from. Many of these people have done little or nothing to deserve a lifetime of health care. Does the health care system need to be re-vamped?? Without a doubt. That said, this is just another form of class warfare being introduced into the USA. The working class vs the Medical Professionals. IMO, were there no AMA and people could access certain medications on their own, sans "controlled" substances such as narcotics and amphetamines, life would be much better. It would also be nice were a persons medical insurance to cover such medications without a "prescription" from a Doctor. No, the AMA has their fingers in every little nook and cranny they can wriggle into.

Oh Dear Lord........ looking at this person's favorite books, it's clear that he's detached from reality. Doc Savage?? I read that when I was prepubescent.  HP Lovecraft ?? Another prepubescent/ teenager type book. And in reading the other books he apparently enjoys, it seems as if he's an "Escapist", not wanting to face reality. The same can be said of the movies he likes. Finally, he's into "paganism"...... whatever trips his trigger, but, once again, it demonstrates that he has some sort of psychological disturbance when everything is added together.

Texacon: It means that in 1993, when discussing health care, Republicans felt that, faced with rising costs, passing increased premiums on to employers would harm the private sector.

We've been telling you that for over 40 years.  You're just NOW figuring that out?

They therefore proposed a plan of individual mandates, in which individuals would assume increased responsibility for insurance premiums.

You mean with or without government footing/subsidizing the bill?  You **are** aware of the history of how medical "insurance" was incorporated as a part of total compensation?  And you **DO** realize who was the underlying force behind the HMO Act of 1973, do you not?

During the last health care debate, Democrats said, "We think you're right about individual mandates."

No you didn't.  You just wanted someone else to pay for it.

It was at that moment that Republicans instantly reversed their previous position, taking a stance of "No We Can't," even on a platform they had previously supported.

Please tell us what GOP input was adopted in the healthcare bill.  Please.  Anything.  Anything at all.

As they've consistently shown since then, they're unwilling to go along with Dems on any issue, even issues that they previously supported, as they continue to pursue an agenda of "Fail at any cost" where the President is concerned.

Gee, why would someone WANT to jump off the cliff, even if promised a nice cushy landing on the rocks below?  What evidence do you have that the policies shoved down our throats by the Democrats and this president in particular are going to benefit those "little people" you so passionately claim to champion, m'boy?

Look at the post below your most recent one and try to dismiss it so easily.  Who is paying for YOUR healthcare when nobody wants to pay taxes any longer?

I guess I'm one of the illiterate, oh wait I am writing this, and I did read what you wrote.

Well since I'm not illiterate, I guess I am uninformed.  So, what am I uniformed about exactly?  Sparky has stated what needs to be stated about the individual mandate.  It was wrong then and is still wrong today.

As for attacking the messenger, what the hell have you done other than what you accuse those here of doing.

So why don't you try to engage in discussion with us simple, illiterate and uniformed members of this site.
